But all in all... the outcome was good. Even though Nangong Xun was carried upside down with his belly pressed against Anqing's shoulder, he stayed fast asleep, completely out like a log.
He only woke up the next morning, stirred by hunger, groggily climbing out of bed in search of food. Ruanruan didn't wake up early, thanks to the adults in the house keeping the restless little troublemakers at bay, allowing her to enjoy a good morning's rest.
From then until school started, apart from the first day when Ruanruan announced to her friends that she was back and arranged to play together the next day, she mostly stayed home, keeping an eye on her younger brothers.
The little guys had already learned to stand up and were toddling around unsteadily like little penguins. A row of adorable, well-dressed kids, all sporting matching outfits and shoes, waddled sluggishly behind Ruanruan wherever she went.
