The Sanctuary mentioned by Evonne was located deep underground. Its entrance was nothing more than an inconspicuous crack between several huge rocks, but there was a whole new world beneath it.
After traversing a twisted and prolonged fissure that extended deep into the earth, a spacious rock hall unfolded before everyone's eyes.
The hall was rectangular, and its ancient granite inner walls were covered with rough and primitive bas-reliefs. The air was stagnant, filling the environment with a damp and musty odor characteristic of enclosed spaces.
Under the soft white light of the Candlelight Technique, the mica in the rock shone like stars, while the patterns of the reliefs cast uneven shadows of light and dark.
Engraved on them appeared to be massive bizarre creatures with conical bodies and tentacles for eyes.
On one side of the hall, there was a square window in the wall. Perhaps it once allowed sunlight to stream through, but now only dark, metamorphic granite remained.
