Jason returned to the Heaven and Earth Sect in silence, the weight of recent events bearing down on him like a mountain on his shoulders. His robes whispered against the polished stone floors as he walked.

Solevia trailed closely behind, her every step hesitant, the unconscious form of Amarantha supported by her trembling hands. Her mother's face, pale as moonlight, stirred a storm of emotions within her—fear, relief, and uncertainty mingling into a tangled web.

The towering gates of the sect groaned shut behind them, sealing them inside the sanctuary. The stillness of the sect grounds was unnerving, broken only by the faint chirping of night insects and the rustling of leaves in the cool breeze.

Jason's usual stoic demeanor was shadowed by something heavier. His eyes, which often burned with quiet resolve, were clouded, staring past the horizon of the moment as though caught in the labyrinth of his thoughts.

Two of the sect's most trusted elders approached swiftly, their expressions a mixture of reverence and curiosity. They bowed low before Jason, awaiting his command.

"Prepare chambers for Lady Amarantha and Solevia," Jason instructed, his voice firm yet laced with an undercurrent of weariness. "Ensure they are comfortable and undisturbed."

The elders exchanged a glance, their brows furrowing at the sight of Amarantha's unconscious form. Without a word, they moved to take her from Solevia's trembling grasp. Solevia's fingers lingered, unwilling to let go, her wide eyes darting between her mother and Jason.

"Handle her carefully," Solevia whispered, her voice cracking with emotion. "She's… she's all I have left."

The elder carrying Amarantha nodded solemnly. "She is in safe hands, young lady. Fear not."

As the elders turned to leave, Solevia stepped forward, her breath quickening. "Jason," she called out, her voice trembling but resolute. "Wait—I need to know what happened. What's going on? Who are you? What happened back there?"

Jason stopped but didn't turn to face her. For a moment, the silence stretched thin, heavy with unspoken words. Then, he exhaled deeply, the sound filled with exhaustion.

"Later," He said, his tone low and clipped, a warning edge beneath it. "Your mother needs you now. Be with her."

"But Jason—" Solevia pressed, desperation creeping into her voice. "You can't just leave me in the dark like this! After everything, I deserve answers!"

Jason turned then, his eyes locking onto hers with a piercing intensity that froze her in place.

"The answers you seek will come," He said, his voice softening but no less resolute. "But not now."

Solevia bit her lip hard, fighting back the urge to argue further. The weight of his gaze was too much, and the unspoken promise in his words held her back. Her hands clenched into fists as she watched the elders place her mother on a floating platform, their movements careful and deliberate. Her heart twisted painfully as the platform began to glide toward the chambers.

"Jason…" Her voice was a whisper now, tinged with pleading.

He said nothing, only inclining his head slightly—a gesture that was both an acknowledgment and a dismissal.

Solevia hesitated, then reluctantly turned to follow her mother, her steps heavy with reluctance and her heart torn between relief and uncertainty.

----

In the quiet chamber, Amarantha stirred faintly, her lashes fluttering as Solevia sat by her side.

"Mother," Solevia whispered, gripping her hand tightly. Tears welled in her eyes as she watched her mother slowly open her eyes.

"Solevia," Amarantha murmured, her voice weak but filled with warmth. She raised a trembling hand to caress her daughter's cheek. "My little one…"

The two embraced, tears flowing freely as they clung to each other. For a long time, they simply held one another, the weight of years of separation melting away in that moment.

When they finally pulled apart, Solevia couldn't stop herself from blurting out, "Mother, why? Why did you give everything up? Why?"

Amarantha sighed, her gaze distant as if seeing a memory only she could. "It wasn't a choice I made lightly, my child. There are forces in this world greater than you can imagine—forces that demanded sacrifice."

She hesitated before adding, "Jason… he was the only one I could trust to protect what mattered most."

Solevia frowned, conflicted. "But why him? What is he to you?"

Amarantha shook her head, a faint smile gracing her lips. "That is a story for another time, Solevia. For now, let us enjoy this moment. I have missed you more than words can express."

----

Meanwhile, Jason stood atop the highest tower of the sect, the cold night wind whipping through his robes. He gazed at the stars, his expression unreadable but his eyes betraying a deep melancholy.

The vast expanse of the sky seemed to mirror the turmoil in his heart. Memories long buried had resurfaced ever since he reached the Immortal Emperor realm. Faces, voices, moments of joy and anguish—thousands of years' worth of emotions crashed over him like relentless waves.

He clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms as he whispered to himself, "I've lived too many lives, carried too many burdens… And yet, here I am. Nothing more, nothing less."

A rustling sound behind him broke his reverie. Turning, he saw Ling Ding, the Elven Queen, descending gracefully from the sky. Her ethereal beauty was unmatched, her golden hair shimmering in the moonlight, and her piercing emerald eyes filled with concern.

"Jason," She said softly, stepping toward him. "I felt your sorrow. What troubles you so deeply?"

Jason looked at her but said nothing, his silence speaking volumes. Ling Ding reached out, taking his hand in hers.

"You don't have to carry this alone," She said, her voice a mixture of tenderness and firmness. "Come with me."

Without waiting for a reply, Ling Ding tugged Jason's hand, leading him to her private palace nestled within the sect's boundaries. The air within the palace was warm and fragrant, a stark contrast to the cold loneliness Jason had surrounded himself with moments before.

Ling Ding guided him to a comfortable seat and sat beside him, her hand never leaving his. "You've been through so much, Jason. You don't have to tell me everything, but please… let me help ease your burden."

Jason sighed, leaning back. "It's not something you can fix, Ling Ding. These memories… they're not just mine. They belong to countless others. Lives I've lived, people I've been. I can't escape them."

Ling Ding frowned, her heart aching for him. "Then let me share the weight, even if only for tonight."

She moved closer, wrapping her arms around him in a gentle embrace. For a moment, Jason stiffened, unused to such vulnerability, but eventually, he allowed himself to relax into her warmth.

"You're not alone, Jason," Ling Ding murmured. "No matter what you've been through, no matter who you were before… you have people who care for you now. People who will stand by you, no matter what."

As Jason rested in Ling Ding's embrace, his thoughts drifted to Amarantha and Solevia. He knew their reunion was a fragile thing, a brief respite before the storm that was sure to come. The betrayal of Amarantha's husband and the other gods loomed over them like a shadow, a reckoning that could not be delayed forever.

But for now, Jason allowed himself a moment of peace, a moment to feel something other than the weight of the universe on his shoulders.

Yet, deep down, he knew this peace would be fleeting. The battles ahead would test him, not just as a leader, but as a man who had lived countless lives and carried countless scars.
