Chapter 9 - CAREFUL WITH THE MIRROR

But he will never expect that the war they ran away from, when they are finally able to return, is still a war going on. But that's going to be on another story.

For now, we move forward five years after the strange family moved to the town of Salvacion.

A round ball covered in pinks ruffles can be seen rolling on the streets as it followed a group of laughing children. Behind it, there are also children running after the round ball. Shrieks and shrill screams could be heard from both groups of running children.

"Fatso! Fatsha! Stupid Fatsha!" Yelling, the first group ran away.

"Sasha, no! Your father will be mad!" The second group of children called, almost pleading.

The rolling round ball stopped and the plump face a little girl can be seen. Her eyes are red not from holding her tears but from anger! She had her round fists clenched furiously as she debated whether to continue chasing after the first group of kids or listen to the pleas of the other group.

She moved her mouth to mumble then with a deep breath, she turned away from the first group of kids and walked towards the later one. She sniffed as she walked towards them and failed to see the look of disgust in their eyes before they threw a blanket over her.

"Here, you look dirty now. Come on, let us help you wash up." A pretty girl about her age walked up to her and held her hand.

"Yes, you must have sweated a lot. Let's take you to Bonnie's home so you can wash up." One of them said while hiding their giggles as they looked at her sweat-soaked dress.

"Those morons, did they think I will take it lying down. Hmp!" She said in all arrogance while she huffed. Her companions' eyes glinted and the one holding her hand winked at one them who then cleared their throat and said.

"Of course, they should pay up! You agreed to be their friend but they can't give you anything. What kind of friends would they be?" One of them started.

"Yeah, look at us, we give you drinks and snacks. Did they think befriending the daughter of the principal is that easy?" They continued to provoke. The round ball or the girl in pink clothes frowned.

"Don't let my father know about it," she said. Shushing sound can be heard from amongst the group.

"Sure, sure. Let's go to Bonnie's now so you can wash up." They urged her but the one called Bonnie has a dark face by now.

"Is it alright if I go to your place and clean up, Bonnie?" The plump little girl asked.

The little girl called Bonnie looked startled but did not let it show on her face, she wore what she thought was her best smile and replied.

"Of course! We're friends right?" She tried to maintain her smile as she said this.

"Yeah! Definitely! Thank you my friend!" The girl replied and moved to hug Bonnie in her delight, not noticing the look of horror on this friend's face as she spread her arms to embrace her.

The other 'friends' looked on as they saw their companion be crushed in the embrace of a pig when they heard a woman's voice.

"Sasha?" Her voice is tender and full of worry. She walked towards the plump girl and held her hand.

The girl called Bonnie felt relief and rush to move out of the plump girl's embrace, an action not lost to the young woman. The little plump girl looked on and stammered.

"M-mani!" Her round eyes went wide as the young woman with blond hair wearing an apron approached her.

"What happened to you? Who did this to you? Why do you look like this?" The young woman asked as he checked on her, turning her around to see if she got hurt anywhere, her worry had not yet left her face.

"Oh, I'm not hurt. I just ran." She replied with a smile, her cheeks still red from the long run and her face looking adorable despite her plump appearance.

"And why would you run? Oh, nevermind. Come with me, let's clean you up." She said and took her hand as she pulled her from her group of friends and left.

The little plump girl shouted back to her little friends, "I'll see you next time. Bye guys!" in her most enthusiastic tone and happily toddled to the young woman holding her hand.

Once she left, a scoff could be heard from the group. They all looked at the person who did it, it was Bonnie.

"She really thought she is high and mighty. Gosh, what a pig!" Then she placed her hands on her waist and yelled at her friends.

"And you told that round ball of flesh to come to my house? How dare you!"

"Well, your house is the nearest one here." They reasoned but she scoffed some more.

"That disgusting glutton! If only her father is not the principal and my sister is not striving for first place, I would never even speak with her!" She muttered.

"My mother said not to cross paths with her, she has very bad traits, she said." One of them exclaimed.

"My mother doesn't want me to befriend gluttons like her. Look at her body, I bet she's bigger than the principal." They continued to mock and cackle.

"But who's that older sister who picked her up?" Someone remembered and asked.

"Oh, you mean her? She's called Tala, she owns a snack bar next to the school. I heard she just opened her business recently and she often buys her food from there." One of them who lived near the school answered.

"Hmpf. That should be it for today. I don't want to see her disgusting face!" Bonnie exclaimed then walked away.

As she did so, the other children also went their ways. Some regrouped to play together and others went home to fill their rumbling stomachs.

Once they left, a shadow of a bird flitted and flew towards the school.
