'To survive in the sealed lands, you have to engrave three pointers in your mind.
first there are a lot of anomalies in the sealed lands that I discovered and although I can't tell you about them all these are the most dangerous ones:
1) space-time distortions (like what you just experienced in the forest) note that I will properly explain this later.
2) inverted light perception (when there is light you can't see, and vice versa in darkness).
3) some sort of ultra sound waves with extremely high frequency that cause hallucinations (the most troublesome to deal with because unlike normal hallucinations, the hallucinations in the sealed lands can affect reality based on the mental state of the one who is seeing them ,an example to be clear is someone who suffers from OCD and end up reshaping the environment around them to become extremely, clean, symmetrical and organized, do note that this applies to dead or alive beings, or basically any sentient creature. only runes can help you ward those waves, the flashlight in the trunk can help you detect them).
4) status effect changing beams of light (they are sudden and inevitable, once hit by the one wait for 5 minutes under direct sunlight for the effect to dissipate, which is quite impossible since there isn't a sun in the sealed lands. Only rune magic can cleanse you of the light's effect. the most basic ones are yellow light for strengthening and the blue for weakening. there are more of them which you will uncover their properties with time).
5) and finally -for the first point- runes (crimson red colored words and letters made from the blood of creatures with mystical energies -mister tree will explain them to you-, that can invoke the powers of nature and alter the fundamental laws of the world, pay high regards to runes and study them as most as possible, as I believe they are the key to your escape, they have mystical and profound powers in them, each completely different yet somehow not, I know this is not making any sense but you will understand why soon enough...'
"Hold up... yes there is more at the back but... damn, so this is the sealed land huh? guess I'm in for a struggle..."
'...second monsters...'
"Wait, what!?"
'...yes monsters, although I can't call all of them that since monsters are evil yet some of those in the sealed lands are... Well... how can I Frase this?... different? I don't know how to say it but simply put the Naturally unintentional curable nesters (or Nuon for short) are as the name suggests creatures that came to be in special circumstances with weird powers and severely twisted logical thought, an example would be a Nuon with the power to manipulate water sees a woman drowning, she was holding her child with her hands, so she couldn't swim properly, with good intentions the Nuon attempts to save the woman, doing so by turning her child to a lifeless puddle of water, in process the woman would have free hands to swim... so would be the Nuon's thinking…'
"...my god" was all Leon could mutter when he let his imagination visualize the scene.
'... the silver lining in this is the Nuons are rare and curable as in solving their obsession with the material world will relieve them and they will dissipate leaving extremely rare materials -much like spirits- the bottom line here is expect the unexpected from the Nuons and be careful when you see one, as my bad naming suggests Nuons have tendencies to linger or nest in a certain area, some Nuons have the ability to communicate and talk fluidly others don't or simply aren't as social, there are two Nuons that I can consider them to be human (scribbles) no, an accurate description would be a person with feelings and normal logical thought like mister tree. although grumpy but sane, rude but caring, he would never lie to you and will guide you well, you can visit him by going inside the forest of isolation and walk 5 minutes inside likewise you can always return here by entering the forest and going in for 1 minute, and it doesn't have to be by the second for example if you walk for 2 minutes and 31 seconds you would be taken to mister tree and vice versa for 2 minutes and 29 seconds to the shack, BUT make sure to never exit the forest through the dead center of the time period like 2 minutes and 30 seconds because you could end up existing from the forest at two locations and end up torn up in have.'
"WHAT?!"
'don't worry as there isn't a split point for the shack as it is the only thing that can be accessed by the time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds under.'
"Phew, thank god!" Leon sighed in relief, and then mumbled "still, a heads up would have been nice"
'This was it, that this will be your main traversing method. mister tree will guide you and tell you where to go next and what to do when the time comes, I'm running out of writing space. goodbye and I hope you do better in this life my friend.'
'ps. Mythical monsters are real, and point three is luck, honestly you are going to need it.'
"Well, that was very... informative, but you forgot to mention how to use the runes..." Leon felt stumped on this particular thing, but he couldn't let himself dwell on it, so he cast the thought to the back of his mind for now.
"Okay let's check these survival tools this guy left me" after finishing reading the memo Leon took a few moments to process what he just read and immediately opened the metal trunk.
"woah!! look at all these stuff... " in the trunk Leon found a flashlight with a few runes inscribed on it ,a sports digital watch with a small indent on the metal side, a military combat knife that could also serve as a survival knife, a long black coat with lots of inside pockets and a place for the knife and flashlight each, a pair of finger cut leather gloves and finally a few packs of MREs and bottled mineral water.
"okay time to pay mister tree a visit... that sounded a bit weird, well whatever" after putting on the new gloves and coat which was surprisingly a perfect fit, Leon took the flashlight and knife in hand since he might walk upon a Nuon and so he would protect himself faster rather than taking them out of the especially made place to put them in the inner side of the coat.
Just before entering the forest Leon activated the timer in the watch and set it to 5 minutes, entering the forest Leon experienced it again... the deafening silence, so he immediately started talking to himself.
"Man... I got some cool stuff like this awesome knife, these gloves and multi-pocketed coat, and I'm wearing all black that I probably look like one of those edgy mercenaries that you see in a video game, and speaking of which it seems memories of myself are not there... Yet, somehow, I know about video games, maybe my actual knowledge is still there but not my memories... let's test this out... " and for the past 5 minutes Leon would do some tests on his intellectual abilities and try figuring out the knowledge he possesses while walking through the forest.
