Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Stood Up

"Hello, Mr. Hawke."

Elara Don looked at Damon Hawke's expressionless face and greeted him with ease.

What a crappy coincidence!

Who would have thought that the narcissist from yesterday was actually the head honcho of the Hawke Group!

High up in status, no wonder he acts like a piece of scrumptious monk's meat, thinking everyone wants a bite of him!

"Are you the perfumer? Is Ryan Fragrances out of people? Sending a woman over for a technical liaison? Rhun, call Ryan and tell him to send someone else."

The man's gaze was intense, and his deep voice carried a disdainful doubt.

Elara Don felt stifled; her impression of him, already poor, worsened.

He looks down on her!

This man not only is narcissistic but also biased against women!

Elara Don glared at Damon Hawke's retreating silhouette and suddenly spoke up.

"Director Lane, today you're wearing men's cologne, but it's not the latest line; it's from the elegant series two years ago. The little receptionist girl, you're wearing Dior's latest enchanting line. And you, you've sprayed two kinds of perfume..."

She had a keen sense of smell.

Once she smelled it, she could quickly identify what perfume the other person was wearing.

Someone looked down on her, didn't they?

She'd show them her skills!

The woman spoke eloquently, naming every perfume brand that everyone present was wearing.

Without a single mistake!

Drawing countless gasps of admiration!

Damon Hawke had already paused in his steps. He turned his head to look at Elara Don's clear, smiling face, his brows furrowed deeply.

This woman seemed to have some skills!

However, the position of a perfumer was significant.

Could she really handle it?

"Mr. Hawke, Ryan mentioned that Charlotte Soo is the most talented perfumer in their company, you see..."

Ethan Lane was already thoroughly impressed by Elara Don, just hoping Damon Hawke would change his mind and keep Elara Don on the team.

Damon Hawke lightly pressed his thin lips, just about to speak, when he heard the woman's clear voice.

"Director Lane, I'm inexperienced and probably can't compete with you this time. Since your Mr. Hawke has other plans, I'll take my leave."

Who can't maintain a stance?

If someone loves to put on airs, must she rush forward to curry favor?

She hoped he wouldn't ask her to return!

Elara Don swiftly turned and left proudly.

Damon Hawke: "..."

Was he just stood up?

First time seeing such a temperamental woman!

"Mr. Hawke, what about this..."

Ethan Lane was anxious, but Damon Hawke's eyes were icy. "Rhun, call Ryan and ask if this is how uncooperative their representatives are, do they still want to proceed with the collaboration?"

Someone with such a fiery temper, does her boss know?

Outside, Elara Don took a deep breath, glanced around the roadside, and finally hailed an empty cab.

If someone sent her back today, next time they ask her over, she won't come and go at their beck and call!

Elara Don got into the car, and it slowly started to move forward.

In another luxury car driving past, a little figure in the backseat pressed a small hand against the window, staring unwaveringly at the departing taxi.

It was the same lady from yesterday!

How did she come to dad's company?

"Charlie, what are you looking at? We're at dad's company now. Does wearing a mask make you feel stuffy? Should mommy help you take it off?"

The car stopped by the roadside, and a woman's deliberately softened voice sounded.

Dominic Hawke slightly turned his head, avoiding the woman's hand, and quickly opened the car door to crawl out.

He moved so quickly, as if avoiding something dirty.

The woman's hand hung awkwardly in the air, slowly clenching into a fist.

This ungrateful wolf, why is he so hard to win over!

He's not her biological child, after all!

"Hello, Miss Don."

Employees in the lobby greeted her one after another.

Victoria Don casually responded with a hum, raised her chin to smooth her wavy curls, and wore a cool, aloof demeanor.

Her gaze shifted to the small figure climbing onto the front desk chair, flipping through the visitor log, and a trace of impatience flashed in her eyes.

"Charlie, what are you looking at? Come on, let's hurry to dad's office! Mommy finally has a day off, you need to celebrate with dad."

The little guy silently flipped through the visitor log, ignoring Victoria Don.

He wanted to see who exactly was the aunt who just came in.

Charlotte Soo?

Perfumer?

So, the aunt just now was a perfumer?

"Dominic Hawke, mommy's talking to you! Didn't you hear?"

Victoria Don grabbed the little guy into her arms, avoiding others' gaze, and pinched him hard on the butt.

Little rascal, making him obey!

Anyway, he doesn't like to talk, and no one can see the bruise through his pants!

Dominic Hawke's butt tensed, his slender shoulders stiffened, and his small eyes slightly reddened.

Images of Elara Don interacting with her child flashed through his mind.

The way that Charlotte Soo auntie was so gentle with her little baby.

Why did his mommy secretly pinch him?

He didn't like her!

"Hey hey, do you think our CEO will marry Miss Don this year?"

"I don't think so. Can't you see? The young master doesn't seem close to Miss Don, and the CEO seems to care more about the young master."

"Hmph, this Miss Don is something else, getting pregnant with the CEO's child out of the blue four years ago, and now clinging to Mr. Hawke, thriving in the entertainment industry, really enviable!"

"..."

Watching Victoria Don carry Dominic Hawke into the elevator, the lobby staff whispered, all gossip faces.

Victoria Don didn't hear them. Inside the elevator, she set Dominic Hawke down, adjusting her hair in the elevator's reflective wall.

Her gaze lowered to the small figure by her feet, eyes twinkling.

"Charlie, you'll be going to kindergarten soon. Other kids' mommy and daddy live together, if you don't want others to see you as different, you should let daddy marry mommy, got it?"

She had been Damon Hawke's fiancée for four years, wasn't it time to become the legitimate lady of the Hawke family?

Damon Hawke cares most about this son's opinion, and whatever this son asks for, he will surely agree!

The little guy remained silent, only the small mouth under the mask pressed into a straight line, showing his inner strong opposition.

He didn't want daddy to marry mommy!

If possible, he wished for Charlotte Soo auntie to become his mommy!

...

On another note.

Elara Don took her son shopping at a nearby mall.

"Mommy not having to work is awesome!"

Harry Soo held a bug jar in his hand, hopping around happily by Elara Don's side.

"Be careful, Cherry, walk properly. Don't crash into anything."

Elara Don chuckled as she watched her son bouncing around. All her worries faded away.

"Hehe, mommy, look how great I am! I found another stink bug."

Harry Soo shook the bug jar in his hand, filled with pride.

Elara Don laughed, taking him to the children's department to pick out some seasonal clothes.

The little guy was growing fast, and with autumn approaching, his old clothes didn't fit anymore.

"Mommy, there's a children's play area over there, can I go play for a bit?"

Harry Soo pointed to a play area in a corner of the mall, looking longingly.

"Go ahead, be safe."

Elara Don smiled, signaling him to go play.

The domestic environment was definitely more fitting for the little guy to grow up in.

Elara Don grinned as she bought several clothes for the little guy, when suddenly, her stomach hurt.

Probably that time of the month was coming.

"Excuse me, could you please hold my things for a bit? I need to use the restroom."

Elara Don said to the sales assistant before quickly heading to the restroom.

Unexpectedly, she bumped into someone at the corner.

The woman cried out in surprise, "What's the matter? Can't you watch where you're walking?"
