The ink isn't even dry on last week's decree, and already three nobles are refusing to acknowledge the new tax code. One claims their estate was 'accidentally' set on fire. Another says their heir has vanished. The third insists he's allergic to non-human legislation.
I suspect only one of them is telling the truth. I'm more concerned about which one?
Lady Rionne sent a letter dripping with honey and arsenic---subtly implying the New Royalist Faction may have been forged with 'illegitimate counsel'. I don't need to tell you what that means.
Two court clerks were dismissed for 'incompetence' this morning. Poor souls. Both had ties to the Arco Viscountcy. One of them left behind a ledger that I am not allowed to quote.
There are talks of many a gathering in the Capital, none of them ours.
