War is a contest of national strength... perhaps because in times of life and death, there is no room for retreat.
When industry, agriculture, scientific research, and even art and entertainment all serve survival, naturally squeezing out all the power, technologies originally in research and funding application are directly expended infinitely, as long as they can be of some use.
Various squeezed goods, industry chains, and reserve technologies are all brought out for a try. If they work, efforts are made for mass production; if not, then onto the next one.
Praising war might have issues, but when war truly arrives, regardless of whether one admits it, all sorts of technology will welcome explosive development, with both the good and the bad forcing change.
And humans... our history as intelligent creatures isn't long, but the time without war is shorter.
"Although reluctant to admit, we are probably more professional in war and combat than the locals..."
