Two hours later,Mrs Rivers was slightly worried. "This girl, is she not going to come down for lunch? The food has gotten cold,it would be uncomfortable for her stomach". "Worry less,she would re-heat it, you know she's a sleepy head". Just then,the subject of their discussion came downstairs yawning.
"Wow,I feel so refreshed, sleep is sure vital to the human body"
"Of course it is you sleepy cat! How many hours did you sleep for?"
"Hmm,not much. I guess like an hour or so" Karyln said while scratching her ruffled hair.
"What an hour? You slept for a whole three hours in midday Karyln and you call it an hour"
"Take a look at yourself,look at drool at the corner of your mouth. Look at your hair all puffed up like a lion's mane. You look nothing like a proper lady" Mrs Rivers nagged at her.
"What! I slept for three hours?" She said rubbing her eyes."No wonder I'm so hungry"
"Of course you should be,you sleepy head. Your food is in the kitchen make sure to microwave it before eating".
"Ok mum".
After finishing with the food,she dropped the dish she used on the kitchen counter and was about to leave the kitchen when she hears her mum's voice boom behind her.
"Where do you think you are going to,young lady?"
"To my room"
"Without washing the dishes,how many uncleaned dishes do you find there?"
"I'll come back to do it"
"Will you get back here and do it right now,you lazy brat?"
She trudges slowly into the kitchen and do the dishes when she heard her dad's voice.
"Call Daryln in his room and you two should go for a walk to familiarize yourself with the neighborhood and get to know some people"
"Ok, I'll go get him"
She climbed the staircase to Daryln's room and entered. She met him playing games on his computer with his headphones on his ears. She walked up to him and yanked the headphones off his head
He sighed"Karyln,why are you behaving like this?"
"How did you know I'm the one?"
"Who else lacks basic manners to enter someone's room without knocking and removing their headphone in this house except you?"
She sits on his couch and glares at him.
"Well thanks for the compliment,Dad said we should take a walk around the neighborhood together"
"Well, you would have to wait for the to conclude this game".
"Ok" she said.
She takes a look around his room and picks a random book from his bookshelf and flips through it.
She sat back on the chair and boringly looks through the notes on the book. She was just about to drop it when she heard Daryln say"Ok,let's go".He tidies up his clothes and they went out together.
They see their parents in the living room having a discussion.
"What have you guys been doing since, Don't Tell me you slept again Karyln?" Mrs Rivers queried while shooting a look at Karyln.
Karyln groans"Of course not mum. It was your dearest son that was playing games and wasting my time not the other way round".
"That's ok,let's get going. Bye mum,bye Dad."
They went out of the house together with their headphones on and talking to each other occasionally.
They were on the road side when suddenly a car screeched past them and splashed mud on Karyln. She felt so aggravated and was ready to score the scores with the driver.
When the car came to an halt a few metres away,she dashed to the car with her brother right on her heels.
She knocks on the window of the car and the window slid down to show a handsome,cold and expressionless face.
Karyln whom is a mighty fan of handsome faces took a step backwards. But she became irritated again when she saw her soiled trousers which did not look like it will be clean after a casual scrub.
She then saw his expressionless face and becomes even more angry and begins ranting immediately.
"Is this how people behave in this neighborhood or you are just the mannerless one.
You splashed mud on someone's clothes and instead of apologizing you put on a god-damned expressionless face as if you did nothing wrong.
Who the fuck gave you your driving license,how the he did you even manage to pass your test.
I'm sure you must have bribed you way through because you couldn't have passed with this useless driving skills of yours!!".
She felt better after venting her anger when she heard a voice from the boy in front of her.
The voice is deep and graceful with a lustre of adolescence. But before Karyln had the luxury to admire the voice,a hand of five pale,long fingers stretched forth holding a piece of paper.
"This is a cheque of 50 million RMB,use it to treat your injuries and get new clothes. Don't come to me anymore".
Heading this,Karyln anger that had depleted suddenly rise again.
"Why are you this stupid and brainless,I'm certain you must have exchanged your brain for your good looks.
It's not like that good looking though,my brother is more handsome than you are.How dare you offer me money after splashing mud on my clothes."
Karyln was still angry when the car suddenly zoomed off and she was left with the arrogant black back of the car.
She is indignant and she turns to Daryln who is standing beside her watching her let out her pent up anger on the teen.
He drags her closer to himself and consoled her"Don't get angry over someone as rude and mannerless as that. Just let's go home to get rid of these clothes of yours".
They both go home together while Karyln was still grunting along the way.
"If I should ever see that guy again I would make sure to punch that useless face of his and give him a good scolding".
"Yes,he really deserve it". Daryln replies her as they go on their way home.
