Inside Marine HQ;
The Fleet Admiral Sengoku, Admiral Aokiji, Vice Admiral Garp, Vice Admiral Tsuru, and other Vice Admirals were gathered inside the meeting room.
"Sir, we heard about Admiral Akainu and Admiral Kizaru's situation. Are they out of danger?"
One of the Vice admirals spoke with a serious tone.
Sengoku nodded his head and explained.
"Currently, they are both out of danger. We have someone check their vitals, and despite the injuries they suffered, they were strong enough to make it out alive."
"We also have to thank Admiral Kizaru for bringing Admiral Akainu back while in a distressing state. So, we will be giving him a two-year bonus after he gets out of the hospital as a gratitude for saving Sakazuki."
Hearing that, the vice admirals and Aokiji couldn't help but smile. This destroyed the tense atmosphere of the room and made it easier for others to breathe and ask questions.
After all, everyone knew the casual hobby for Admiral Kizaru was to earn bonuses.
"But Admiral Akainu's situation is not good. He will wake up soon and can still fight, but his strength will be seriously hampered after he lost one of his arms."
"There is no need to worry, Sengoku. Red Haired Shanks can become an Emperor with a single hand. Why can't our Marines perform a similar feat?" Garp casually responded with Sengoku's words.
Though he was simply trying to change the topic. Because the person who tore apart Akainu's arm was his grandson.
"Shut up, Garp! If it wasn't for your grandson, do you think anyone would've been able to do this?" Sengoku's forehead veins swelled as he angrily roared towards Garp.
"Isn't it just because you can't fight them anymore?" Garp muttered in a low tone, but his words were heard by everyone in the room.
Hearing that, Sengoku took a deep breath and said.
"It is my fault. I underestimated the younglings. Although we have been calling them Emperors, we underestimated them because of their recent feat of fighting Kaido to a standstill."
"I believed that they needed the help just to fight Kaido and not get killed, they weren't strong enough to defeat an Admiral. That's why I sent Akainu. It was a big risk, but with two admirals, five CP0 agents, and ten Pacifista, it should've been enough."
"Unfortunately, it wasn't. In fact, I was only planning on sending two CP0 agents who could kill Zoro and Sanji. But the World Government sent three more; even so, they weren't strong enough to defeat the Straw Hat Crew."
"Most importantly, ten Pacifista and Kizaru's student and the reserve Marines of the Science division were defeated by three people."
"It is a shameful defeat for us, just before a war that we are supposed to launch against an Emperor. I believe many marines have been shaken by this news."
Hearing that, the Vice Admirals nodded. They weren't truly shaken by it since they knew just how much power Marines still had.
But the lower-ranking marines were frightened by this piece of news, and the worst part of it was that the news didn't come from the marines but from the newspaper.
Which meant the news of the Marines' defeat was already published to the world.
This was very bad news for the Marines because the world would lose its faith in the Marines after this news.
Aokiji had a conflicted look on his colleagues' defeat.
On one hand, Akainu couldn't threaten him for the position of the Fleet Admiral after this war.
On the other hand, he didn't want his fellow admiral to suffer such a fate.
But he didn't understand something. If this were Liam, he could understand. But how could someone like Luffy be so vicious as to cut off Akainu's arm?
Especially when Luffy didn't even use a sword.
"But there is one thing that I don't understand. Why do Straw Hats hate Admiral Akainu so much? After all, they are a newly formed crew, right?"
One of the Vice Admirals voiced his confusion.
Sengoku turned towards the vice admiral and shook his head.
"We are not so sure about it. We believe that Liam has some kind of grudge against Akainu."
He did know something. It's just that he couldn't say it. After all, how could he say that someone hated Akainu's personal Justice?
That wasn't just questioning Akainu's Justice. It was also questioning the Justice of the Marines.
At this moment, Tsuru, who was quietly listening to the conversation while reading the report file on this battle, showed a look of surprise.
She coughed and spoke.
"I found something. The conflict between Straw Hats and Akainu stems from two different factions within the Straw Hat Pirates."
"One is Liam's grudge against Akainu. Another is revenge for Ohara. Especially in this battle, Luffy was trying to kill Akainu to take revenge for Robin."
"From previous reports, we found out that Monkey D Luffy and Nico Robin are in a relationship."
At this moment, Tsuru showed a look of concern and said.
"And, I believe he won't give up this easily. Especially in the upcoming war. Although Sakazuki is not a weak opponent, he has lost one of his arms. Since he is a Devil Fruit user, we can't use Seastone arm like Zephyr."
"And if we use any other kind of metal, it will melt under Sakazuki's magma, or it will hinder his performance. So, he would have no choice but to fight with his less dominant arm."
Sengoku nodded his head and said.
"I feel the same. But we can not put Sakazuki in the background. As one of the Admirals of the Marine, he has to participate in this battle. There are still four days for his recovery."
"I believe within four days he will recover, and then, we can't push him back. Otherwise, it will demoralize our soldiers."
Hearing that, Aokiji asked.
"What plans do the World Government have for the Straw Hats?"
Sengoku was surprised by Aokiji's question, but he answered it truthfully.
"That's what I am going to say next. It is also our plan for this war. There are two ways we will start the war, and it will be based on our opponents."
One of the Vice Admirals asked.
"Are there so many differences just because of our enemies?"
Sengoku nodded.
"Yeah, that's true. You have to understand that we can't let our enemies destroy Marineford, and one of the key parts of the battle is going to be Whitebeard, who has the power to destroy the world."
"And, Straw Hat Pirates who have the power to shake the World Government. The World Government has stated its purposes. We must kill Straw Hat Luffy at any cost, even if we have to give up on Portgas D Ace."
"What?"
Several of the Vice Admirals raised their voices and started asking.
"But isn't he the core part of this war?"
"Giving up on him means giving up on the Whitebeard Pirates. How can they ask us to do this?"
"How could Straw Hat Luffy be more threatening than the man who can destroy the world?"
Hearing that, Sengoku calmly replied.
"Because even if the world is destroyed, the World Government will still exist."
His answer instantly silenced the room. Many of the Vice Admirals clenched their fists but didn't say anything.
Garp sighed deeply. He knew this was coming when he found what kind of fruit Luffy had eaten.
This was simply because he had seen many things and learned many secrets.
That's also why he didn't bring Luffy to the Marine Headquarters during his childhood days. It wasn't because of Dragon.
Yes, Dragon was a problem for him, but his presence didn't affect Luffy that much.
After all, even the World Government knew someone like Dragon wouldn't give up his ambition for his child.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have been successful in kidnapping Ginny, the lover of Bartholomew Kuma.
She wasn't just a lover. She was also a top captain in the Revolutionary Army.
That's why Garp would've been confident to bring Luffy to the Marines and make him a Marine soldier.
But when he found out that Luffy had eaten a Devil Fruit, especially a Rubber Fruit, he simply pushed Luffy to the bandits and raised him alongside Ace.
That fruit meant that the World Government would do anything to bring Luffy to their side, brainwash him, and turn him into a soldier similar to God Knights.
Or, they could simply kill him. But they might not do that, considering how hard they were trying to find this fruit.
Garp knew these possibilities, so he kept Luffy hidden in Windmill Village until Luffy left the village and became a pirate.
Now, he was a thorn in the World Government's rule, and there was nothing he could do to stop WG.
Unless he could betray the Marines.
"Whitebeard can't do what Monkey D Luffy can achieve. That's why Five Elders will participate in this war."
