"Heh heh heh..." Ghost Head chuckled dryly at those words, then replied, "I guess... not, right? Our luck shouldn't be that bad."
"Let's hope so. Alright, we're leaving."
A few of them didn't linger near Ghost Head. One of them rubbed his hands together, ran over to the ruins of a building, and fetched a stone to use as a table. The card game officially began.
As soon as they left, that strange man approached Ghost Head. In a slightly mechanical tone, he asked, "Who… are they?"
"Huh?" Ghost Head was startled by him. Earlier, it seemed like he had left—he wasn't sure if he had really seen him, or if it was just a hallucination.
"You..."
"I... I'm fine. Those guys? They're old coworkers of mine. We've known each other for a while. After we joined the Cold Army, we were grouped in the same squad."
"I see..."
The man nodded stiffly before walking away. His abrupt departure left Ghost Head baffled—what kind of question-and-run behavior was this?
