The thunder slash collided with the dark shield the undead had raised, and shattered like glass.
Liu Yuan's eyes widened. "What…?"
Before he could recover, the undead moved.

In an instant, it vanished from where it stood and reappeared right in front of him. Its hollow green eyes locked onto Liu Yuan's shocked face.
With one bony hand, it raised a glowing black flame.
FWOOSH!
The flames weren't normal fire. They twisted and flickered unnaturally, burning cold and dark, as if sucking the light out of the air around it.
A wave of shadowy heat surged forward, straight at Liu Yuan.
Liu Yuan barely had time to bring up his sword in defense.
CRACK!
His enchanted sword cracked from the impact.
The flames didn't stop.
They exploded around him, engulfing him in a dome of dark fire that roared with power. The force pushed him back, sliding across the arena floor until he hit the protective barrier behind him with a thud.
The crowd gasped.
"W-what was that?!"
