If Ian had known that the other party was worrying about such a simple problem, he would surely have replied, "Just bring money."
These Orthodox Envoys... everything else is fine, but their sense of ceremony is just too strong. Sure, he's a Prophet, no doubt about it, but no one ever said you need his permission to visit him—let alone complete some mission or gain his approval. If you want to enter as a guest, just bring more gifts and money, simple as that.
