Chapter 31 - Chapter 27: Pear Forest

Wen Ran was startled, "Why are you carrying a pot with you?"

"I like hotpot."

It really was a yin-yang pot!

Wen Ran thought this little girl was indeed extraordinary. After glancing at the crystal-clear pot, she asked, "What is this thing made of?"

"Diamond."

Wen Ran knew that diamond had another name, which was diamond.

She was silent for a moment, "This thing is too big, change it to a smaller one."

The diamond pot in Qiu Shui's hand became a diamond bowl, "Is this okay?"

Wen Ran took the bowl and felt that the size was about right. Without any guilt, she wrapped several strips of cloth around the bowl and tied it securely. Then she looked out the window, her gaze locked on the pear tree beside it.

Wen Ran remained motionless, and Qiu Shui couldn't help but hold her breath.

Suddenly, Wen Ran's hand moved, and the bowl tied with strips of cloth was thrown out. It circled around the branches of the tree a few times, and the cloth strips were also wound around the branches.

Wen Ran pulled a few more times to confirm it was stuck there, then turned back and said, "Tie this end to the corner of the table."

Qiu Shui stared blankly for a while before reacting. She hurriedly did as Wen Ran said, moving the table to the window and leaning it against the wall, with the cloth strips securely tied to one of the table legs.

Wen Ran said, "I'll go over first, and then you can follow my way."

Qiu Shui was still a little worried, "What if something goes wrong?"

"Then we still have to take a gamble." Sitting at the window, Wen Ran handed a leftover piece of cloth strip to Qiu Shui while she looped a piece of the cloth strip onto the "zip line" in her hand.

She grabbed the cloth strip acting as the "sling" and wrapped it around her hand, then smiled with raised lips, "We can't just sit here waiting to die and let someone come to covet your beauty."

As soon as she finished speaking, her figure swiftly and decisively vanished from the window, only the hem of her skirt fluttering like a butterfly taking flight.

Qiu Shui hurriedly lay by the window and looked down. The girl in yellow had already landed on the tree and soon climbed down the trunk nimbly, standing steadily on the ground.

Wen Ran stood among the fluttering pear blossoms, smiling and waving to the person above.

Mysteriously, Qiu Shui's ears felt a bit hot, and her face a bit red, not knowing whether it was because of Wen Ran's joking mention of "coveting your beauty."

Once the strange feeling on her face was blown away by the wind, Qiu Shui slowly followed Wen Ran's method to escape from the house.

After landing, she looked at the building again, realizing that this tower-like structure was even taller than she imagined.

She looked at Wen Ran, who was contemplating which direction to go.

Qiu Shui couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you afraid?"

"This place is so bizarre, of course I'm afraid."

"But you don't look afraid at all."

A peculiar expression appeared on Wen Ran's face, "If you've been around crazy people long enough, you'll find that fear is nothing. Being constantly enraged and furious, that's what's really detrimental to your health and mind."

Qiu Shui listened in a state of bewilderment.

Below the cliff were rivers and lakes, the water flowing gently.

A young man in blood-stained clothes walking through the forest suddenly sneezed, rubbed his nose, and looked up at the sky.

The weather seemed a bit cold. If he caught a cold, that wouldn't be good. He thought it better to wait for a warmer day with sun to come back and collect the bodies.

Thinking of this, he actually took a few steps back, but then stopped in his tracks, touched his chin, and muttered to himself, "I can't, my plum is still with her."

It would be such a shame if that green plum, of which he only had one bite, went to waste.

The Pear Tree Forest was vast and seemingly endless at first glance.

Wen Ran and Qiu Shui had walked for a long time, and still hadn't found a way out. Moreover, because each tree looked so similar, it was easy for those in the forest to lose their sense of direction.

Even with the best stamina, walking for one or two hours would be exhausting, and the two of them had to stop and rest for a while.

Qiu Shui glanced at the surrounding pear trees, feeling a terrible headache. She gritted her teeth and said, "Once I get out, I must set fire to burn this place down!"

Wen Ran looked up at the sky, "We've been walking for so long, yet the sky hasn't changed at all."

Hearing this, Qiu Shui also looked up. She noticed that the clouds at the horizon hadn't moved an inch and, with her quick wits, said, "There's definitely something wrong here!"

Which was an obvious statement.

Wen Ran silently glanced at her.

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Qiu Shui felt awkward and sheepishly asked Wen Ran, "I heard you have a good relationship with Shen Wu, if you disappear, he'll definitely come to rescue you, right?"

Would Shen Wu come to rescue her?

Wen Ran offered an ambiguous answer, "He probably would."

To be honest, she doubted Shen Wu would actually come to rescue anyone.

Shen Wu was unpredictable, like a madman when slaughtering, yet a perfect gentleman in front of others. But in private, he often seemed like a playful child.

Don't be fooled by how casually he calls her "Ranran" each time, there's really not much brotherly-sisterly affection in it.

So, waking up in this strange place, Wen Ran never thought of waiting for Shen Wu to come save her. She had to rely on herself.

Suddenly, Qiu Shui reached out and pulled Wen Ran to hide behind a tree, whispering, "There are people up ahead."

Wen Ran looked in the direction Qiu Shui pointed, seeing two men and a woman standing under the swaying shadows of the trees ahead.

The two men were both dressed like scholars, handsome in appearance. As for the woman in white clothes, upon seeing her, one would be stunned by her beauty.

She wore light makeup, her graceful eyebrows and eyes filled with emotion, with a hint of sorrow in them, her lips a natural red without any color, her wide sleeves loose, and her slender waist seemingly small enough to be held, captivatingly delicate.

The scholar in blue seemed eager to express himself, nervously saying, "Miss Bai, my heart for you is as true as the sun and moon. In this life, I ask for nothing more, only to marry you as my wife!"

Before Miss Bai could speak, the adjacent scholar in green hurriedly interrupted, "Miss Bai, don't believe him. He's just lustful for beauty, but I hold genuine affection for you. If I could marry you, I would never fail you in this life!"

"Stop talking." The girl's voice was melodious like a warbler's, carrying a bit of sorrow. In her calmness, she was like a tender flower reflecting in water, and as she moved, she resembled a delicate willow swaying in the breeze. She sorrowfully said, "Thank you both for keeping me company these days, but destiny has ended for me and you two. Please leave."

The blue-robed scholar pleaded bitterly, "Miss Bai, although we've known each other for a short time, I already feel that you are the girl destined for me. I've made up my mind to marry none other than you!"

The scholar in green was not to be outdone, "Miss Bai, you are my destiny! Asking me to leave you is more painful than killing me!"

"You guys..." Miss Bai looked between the two, sighed deeply in helplessness.
