Y/n POV
We step out of the car and walk towards the office. As we enter the elevator, Kayden suddenly grabs my hand and pulls me against his chest.
"Wha—"
"You look beautiful today," he murmurs, his voice soft yet intense.
I quickly pull away from him, frowning. "You can say that without touching me."
He sighs, his gaze darkening. "I try to control myself, but you know I can't."
The elevator doors slide open, and I step out without another word, heading straight into his office. For some reason, an unfamiliar anger simmers inside me, bubbling just beneath the surface. I can't explain it, but today, everything seems to irritate me.
As I reach my desk, I notice Cassie sitting in Kayden's chair. She looks up, smirking when she sees me,
Cassie's eyes light up the moment she sees Kayden. She rushes toward him, throwing her arms around his neck.
"Mm, my baby, you're late," she coos, trying to press a kiss to his lips.
Kayden immediately pushes her away, his expression darkening. "Behave yourself. And why the hell were you sitting in my chair?"
Cassie shrugs, flipping her hair. "Because I wanted to. And, yeah, did you forget? I'm your girlfriend now."
Kayden scoffs, folding his arms. "I told you—I'm not falling into your trap. If you really have the video, then show me."
Cassie freezes, her confidence faltering. "B-but—"
Kayden smirks, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "Just as I thought."
Cassie crosses her arms, a sly smile playing on her lips. "But that doesn't mean I don't have proof right now. You know what happened that night—we slept together, we fu—"
"Yes, I know," Kayden cuts her off sharply, his jaw clenching.
Cassie smirks, clearly enjoying his reaction. "Anyway, Y/N, don't you think he's wrong? Tell me."
I look at her, startled. "I—don't put me into this."
"Don't talk to her," Kayden warns, his voice cold, but Cassie ignores him and steps closer to me.
"You're a woman too, Y/N. You know how I feel. He used me, and now he's calling it a mistake?" Her voice wavers, and I can see the anger burning in her eyes.
I look down, sighing.
"He's a bastard, Y/N. Because of him, I haven't been able to sleep these past nights."
I hesitate before murmuring, "I understand… he is wrong."
Kayden steps forward immediately. "No, Y/N! Don't take her seriously. She's making false claims—I have proof, Y/N."
I lift my gaze to meet his, confusion swirling inside me.
Cassie's confidence wavers as she stammers, "W-what proof?"
Kayden steps closer, his gaze cold and unwavering. "I checked my house's CCTV footage."
Her eyes widen. "No, you didn't!"
"Oh, I did," he smirks. "And you know what I saw? I was completely drunk, barely able to stand, and you—you knew exactly what you were doing. You mixed something into my drink and took advantage of me."
I gasp, my stomach twisting in shock.
Cassie stumbles back, shaking her head. "No! That's not true!"
She turns to leave, but Kayden's voice stops her cold.
"And one more thing—you're fired."
Without another word, Cassie bolts out of the office, disappearing in an instant.
Kayden hesitated for a moment before awkwardly clearing his throat. "W-we should do our work," he muttered, nodding quickly before turning back to his desk.
I tried to focus, really, I did. But after a while, an undeniable craving hit me. My mind drifted far away from work and straight into the land of chocolate and ice cream. I bit my lip, debating whether I should say it out loud.
"Umm... can I take a break, sir?" I asked hesitantly.
Kayden looked up, brows slightly furrowed. "Yeah, but... are you okay?"
I nodded. "I just really want something sweet... chocolate or ice cream."
His lips twitched, then, to my surprise, he chuckled—a warm, soft laugh that sent little flutters through my stomach.
"Let me order it for you," he offered, already reaching for his phone.
I quickly shook my head. "No, no! Don't worry. I'll just go get—"
Before I could finish, he was already standing up, grabbing his jacket.
"Then let's go," he said smoothly, flashing a rare, mischievous smile.
I blinked. "Wait, what?"
"You want chocolate and ice cream, right? Let's get it together," he said, tilting his head playfully.
Whatever it was, my heart definitely wasn't prepared.
"You don't have to, sir. I can manage," I insisted, but before I could step away, Kayden gently grabbed my hand, leaning down until our faces were just inches apart.
His eyes held a teasing glint. "I also want to eat my strawberry pie," he murmured, his voice playful.
I couldn't help but laugh. "Okay, okay! Fine."
He straightened up, smirking. "Good. Now, let's go. We still have a lot of work to do after this."
Soon, we found ourselves at a small, cozy restaurant, enjoying our desserts. I took a spoonful of my ice cream and let out an exaggerated, satisfied sigh. "Mmm… yummy!" I said, sounding like a little kid.
Kayden chuckled. "Really? Let me have a bite."
I quickly pulled my cup away. "Nope! This is mine. You have your own!"
He pouted—actually pouted. "Ah, that's not fair! Just one bite, please?"
I grinned mischievously, shaking my head before grabbing my ice cream and dashing away. "Catch me if you want it!"
Behind me, I heard him groan before laughing. "Oh, you're in trouble now!"
The chase was on, and my heart was racing—though I wasn't sure if it was from running or the way he looked at me.
Kayden: "Y/N, YOU JUST WAIT!!!"
I giggled, sprinting ahead as he struggled to keep up. Luckily, I reached the office elevator just in time and slammed the button. The doors started closing—just as Kayden came running full speed.
"Oh no..." I muttered, eyes widening.
At the last second, he stuck his leg between the doors, forcing them open.
Kayden: "Ahh... now run, my little cutie."
His voice was low, teasing—but also dangerously full of intent. My heart skipped a beat.
I shoved the last bit of ice cream into my mouth and grinned. "Oops... sorry! Ummm, it was delicious!" I teased, licking my lips.
Before I could react, he stepped forward, backing me against the elevator wall. My breath hitched as the playful glint in his eyes turned into something... else.
"W-what are you doing?" I stammered.
He didn't answer. Instead, his gaze dropped to my lips. Slowly, he leaned in—closer, closer—until I could feel his breath against my skin.
I shut my eyes tightly, my heart pounding. Then, I felt it—his lips brushing the corner of my mouth... warm, soft. And then—a flick of his tongue.
Kayden: "Mmm... yeah. It is delicious."
My eyes flew open as he pulled back with a smirk.
I was so not ready for this.
