Chapter 35 - Don’t Bite Your Lip

Y/n POV

I stirred awake, my bladder screaming for relief. But there was one small problem—Kayden. His arms were wrapped around me like a human-sized octopus, holding me so tight I could barely move.

I wiggled a little, testing my chances of escape. Nope. No luck. His grip only tightened, his face nuzzling against my neck.

"Kayden…" I whispered.

"Hmm?" he hummed sleepily, his voice low and raspy.

"Let me go!!! I need to pee."

"Mmm… no don't go," he murmured, pulling me even closer.

I groaned. "Kayden, I'm serious. Let me go."

He sighed dramatically. "Just hold it."

"Hold it?! Do you want me to pee on you?"

He chuckled against my skin, his warm breath sending shivers down my spine. "Kinda hot."

"KAYDEN!" I shout and smacking his arm.

He groaned but finally loosened his hold. I shoved him off and bolted for the bathroom, hearing his lazy chuckle behind me.

I slammed the door behind me, my face burning. This man was impossible.

Kayden knocked on the bathroom door, his voice filled with concern. "Y/N, are you okay?"

I sighed, still catching my breath. "Yeah, I'm fine."

"Good. We need to leave early, so hurry up," he said.

I groaned. "Yeah, but… my clothes?"

"I'll take care of it," he assured me.

"Okay…" I mumbled, stepping out of the bathroom.

Kayden was already waiting for me, holding out a fresh shirt. "Here, take a bath and wear this for now."

I took the oversized t-shirt from him, eyeing it. "This is yours." *I have wear it again *

"Yeah. Problem?" He smirked.

I rolled my eyes but grabbed it anyway, disappearing back into the bathroom. After a refreshing shower, I slipped into his shirt.

When I stepped out, the room was empty. Kayden was gone.

Curious, I padded downstairs and found him leaning against the kitchen counter, phone pressed to his ear. His expression was serious, his voice low.

Kayden stood near the counter, phone pressed to his ear. "Yeah, we'll be there in an hour," he said before noticing me. His lips curled into a small smile.

"Hey," he said, slipping his phone into his pocket. "I told Mr. Ben that we're coming in late today."

I sighed in relief. "Good. Then I'll make us some breakfast."

He nodded, stretching slightly. "Alright. I'll take a quick shower."

As he disappeared into his room, I got to work in the kitchen, whipping up some omelets and sandwiches. The smell of eggs and toasted bread filled the air, making my stomach grumble.

Once I was done, I headed to call Kayden, only to find him already dressed in his office attire—his crisp shirt fitting him way too well.

"Kayden—" I started, but the doorbell rang, cutting me off.

"Aah, I'll get it," he said, walking toward the door.

I nodded and turned back toward the mirror, quickly running my fingers through my hair. Just as I was about to tie it up, I saw Kayden coming back—with a box in his hands.

My brows furrowed. "What's that?"

His lips twitched into a smirk. "Guess."

Kayden : "A dress—for you to wear to the office."

I blinked in surprise. "Oh… You didn't have to buy me one. We could've just stopped by Emma's house—"

"Y/N," he cut me off, his tone firm but gentle. "I already bought it. No more excuses. Now get ready, we have a meeting to attend."

I sighed, knowing there was no point in arguing. Kayden gave me a satisfied nod and turned toward the door. "I'll wait downstairs, okay?"

I nodded, watching as he left before turning my attention to the box. Carefully, I lifted the lid and gasped softly. Inside was a stunning black dress—simple yet elegant.

I slipped into it and stepped in front of the mirror. The fit was perfect. The neckline wasn't too deep, just resting above my chest, while the delicate sleeves sat on my shoulders, leaving them bare. I ran a hand through my hair. Guess I'd have to leave it down to match the look.

Grabbing my phone and purse, I made my way downstairs.

As I entered the kitchen, I paused, smiling at the sight before me—Kayden, dressed sharply for work, was busy serving breakfast.

Kayden turned around, his words catching in his throat as his eyes landed on me.

"H-He—" He swallowed, blinking a few times before finally finding his voice. "Y-You look perfect, Y/N."

I smiled, taking a seat at the table. "Because of the dress?"

Kayden shook his head, a small smirk playing on his lips. "No… because of you. The dress just got lucky."

I let out a soft laugh, shaking my head at his smooth words.

He sighed, almost as if speaking to himself. "I wish we could leave like this forever…"

I froze mid-bite. "Wait… what did you just say?"

His eyes widened slightly before he quickly cleared his throat. "A-Ah, nothing! Just eat, we have to go."

I narrowed my eyes suspiciously, but he was already focused on his food, avoiding my gaze.

Letting it slide for now, I finished my breakfast, and soon, we headed to the office.

---

As we walked into the office, every pair of eyes turned toward us. And not in a "wow, what a cute couple" kind of way. More like "who is she and why is she with him?" The girls looked like they were ready to throw staplers at me. I clutched my bag tighter and looked down, pretending to be very, very interested in the carpet.

Kayden, cool as always, just smirked and pressed the elevator button like we weren't walking through a field of silent judgment.

Once we were inside, he leaned in close—so close I could feel his breath against my ear.

Kayden: "Don't be so nervous… and stop biting your lip like that."

His voice was low and teasing.

Kayden (grinning): "Unless you want me to do something about it."

My eyes widened. My lip? Betrayer! I immediately stopped and nodded quickly, looking anywhere but at him.

He chuckled under his breath as the elevator doors opened. We stepped out and headed to the office. And just as I was recovering from that moment, we saw Mr. Ben standing there with his arms crossed like a stern principal.
