None of the gates from the night before were still there. The curse gate had collapsed after we crushed the gate core, and the other two were suspiciously missing. I glanced at Evla as we walked, but couldn't read anything from her expression. She walked ahead of me next to Elise and R'lissea, talking and laughing like old friends.
Fable whined softly, and I put a hand on his shoulder, petting him as we walked.
"I'm alright. Just a little tired," I admitted to him. "Villie barely left me any mana at all."
His worry deepened, oozing through our bond. I shook my head.
"No, probably not. But if I need to use my mana with Luke…I'd rather not fight at all."
He stopped, swinging his massive head about to face me. His eyes were deep and stern. I took him in both hands, ruffling the fur around his neck.
"Thanks. I'll always depend on you." I snuck a side-eyed glare at R'lissea. "Even if we can't sleep together anymore."
