Chapter 2 - Hometown Hero

Setting: Leone

Levi stood at the edge of the bustling town square, arms crossed, reflecting on his life. From the dusty streets to captain of the local law division, it hadn't been easy—especially for a kid who had once known nothing but hunger and hardship.

He had not always envisioned himself as a lawman. After losing his parents in a mining collapse, he scraped by as a child, doing whatever he could to care for his younger sister and help struggling townsfolk. He never sought recognition for his efforts—only survival. Yet, it was those small acts of kindness that unknowingly set him on the path to justice.

His turning point came during a robbery at the general store. With no training and no weapon—just quick thinking and grit—he managed to help stop the thief. At that moment, the town's captain, Stone, took notice of him. Stone saw potential in Levi and arranged for his sister to live with relatives in the capital, while he took Levi under his wing, training him in combat and the principles of real justice.

Now, years later, Levi had earned the badge of captain, inheriting Stone's position after his passing. He commanded a skilled team and had gained the respect of the town. Today, a new lieutenant was set to arrive—fresh from the capital.

A voice broke through his thoughts.

"Captain Levi? Excuse me, Captain?"

He turned to see a young woman approaching, dressed in a sharp, freshly pressed uniform. The badge on her hip gleamed in the morning light.

"Lieutenant Lily, I take it?" Levi asked, extending his hand confidently.

She nodded and shook his hand firmly. "Yes, sir. It's a pleasure to be here."

Levi could see a strong, determined look in her eyes—a spark he recognized in himself, a spark that still burned within him.

"Let's get started," he said, gesturing for her to follow him. "The command center is this way."

Setting: Local Station

As they entered the building, they passed a stone plaque set into the wall: To the Stone Wall That Protected Us – May He Live On in Our Hearts. Levi glanced at it briefly, then continued on.

"I've set up a workspace for you," he said, opening the door to a simple office. "Starting today, this space is yours too. We'll begin orientation at 7 AM—bright and early. There's only one set of sleeping quarters for the command team, so you'll be sharing a room with me for now. You're making history; we've never had a lieutenant before."

He walked over to a corner and pointed to a small sign hanging over a trash can. "If you have any complaints, just drop them in the complaint box."

Lily looked at the sign above the trash can, unimpressed. Levi chuckled. "Come on, lighten up! If you can't find some humor in this place, you won't last long."
