The once-avoided quartet of derelict courtyard houses had undergone a dramatic transformation. Two had already been demolished, making way for the construction of a new ceremonial hall, while the other two had been meticulously restored, waiting only for the final flourishes of decoration.
On a crisp, bright morning, Gu Zi and Sun Yi toured the construction site, their heels clicking smartly on the newly laid pathways. As always, Gu Zi walked Sun Yi to her car, unable to hide her admiration.
