Wanting to get whatever the Hunter Association was summoning him for out of the way as soon as possible, so that he could return, Liu Wei rode all day long. The sun had already long set by the time he finally decided to find a place to spend the night in.
He didn't have to look far. The road he took was one of the major cross-country roads, so there were plenty of inns to choose from. He picked at random, stopping at the first he came across.
It wasn't too busy. As it was still winter, most people didn't travel much so far up the North, not even merchants. Only in a month or two, the regular traffic would resume.
"Something warm to eat, and a drink," he said to the innkeeper, as he took a seat by one of the wooden tables, rubbing his hands together. Even inside the inn, it was rather cold - there weren't many guests around, so to save firewood, they only lit one fireplace. Which wasn't enough to heat up such a large dining space, but at least was cost-efficient.
