Hornet Widow was indeed figuring out her enemy.
Her instincts as an assassin-type combat specialist already warned her that her enemy was more than what he looked like on the outside. His confident gait and stance, as well as his measured and calm gaze, were all signs of this.
She has never been one to underestimate her enemies; if anything, she even overestimates them most of the time. That's how she cinches victory most of the time despite all odds.
But, although her instincts warned her about this guy, she couldn't properly estimate just how truly terrifying he was, which was highly abnormal for her.
Hornet Widow faced many opponents in the past; most were way stronger than her. A few were so strong that she was tempted to surrender right away because her small bag of tricks wouldn't be enough to bridge the sheer disparity in actual strength.
