Naruto SI: Kaito Red Lightnin Chapter 177
"Now! Kirin." he roared. A bolt of lightning split the clouds It came crashing down, striking Urashiki full force.
Urashiki screamed as the lightning tore through him, his body seizing under the current.
Seizing the moment, Kaito narrowed his eyes. The Sage Art: Red Lightning Massive Rasengan. in his hand condensed as kaito shrink it down into a dense spiral.
"Rasendan!!" he shouted. The Rasendan shot forward like a bullet, tearing through Urashiki's attack— BOOM! It pierced straight through Urashiki's palm, obliterating his hand.
The recoil of The Rasendan left Kaito skin on his right hand was torn raw, blood dripping freely.
Urashiki gasped—but before he could react, the Rasendan expanded, growing massive once again just inches from his face.
KABOOM!
It swallowed him whole. As Sage Art: Red Lightning Massive Rasengan tore through the land The shockwave blew apart trees and rock. Smoke and wind tore across the battlefield, and blasted upward into sky, exploding high above.
He stood there, panting hard, barely staying on his feet as he watched the last of the chakra fade from the sky.
He couldn't sense Urashiki anymore.
'It's… over…' His vision blurred. Darkness crept in from the edges. Kaito collapsed forward with a heavy thud—completely unconscious.
…
Itachi moved quickly, leaping from one tree to another, rushing toward the training ground Kaito often used.
He paused briefly on a branch—then froze, eyes widening.
That chakra… The heavy, suffocating pressure of the Nine-Tails.
He'd felt it before—eight years ago, during the attack on the village.
His three-tomoe Sharingan spun rapidly, reacting to the threat.
Without wasting another second, Itachi launched off the branch, moving faster.
'What could've happened?' he thought. 'Did someone attack Naruto? For him to tap into the Nine-Tails' chakra... something serious must have triggered it.'
His eyes narrowed as he pushed forward.
'Could it be the masked man? Has he come back for the Nine-Tails? That would explain the explosions… Kaito must've been fighting him.'
'Just hold on, Kaito…'
A minute passed as he raced toward the area And then, suddenly, Itachi felt the shift.
The Nine-Tails' chakra was fading.
'It's receding…' he thought. 'Either Kaito or Aunt Kushina must've managed to suppress it.'
As he drew closer to the source, Itachi's eyes caught the sight ahead—and his breath caught in his throat.
A massive red Rasengan was clashing with a swirling purple sphere of chakra. Both jutsu towered over the trees, shaking the forest with their power.
The ground cracked beneath them. Trees rustled violently, their roots being ripped from the earth.
Itachi landed atop a tree and had to grip the trunk tightly as the wind howled and the tree bent backward from the pressure.
He raised his arm to shield his eyes, watching through the chaos as the two colossal jutsu battled for dominance.
"This is bad…" he muttered under his breath. "I'll have to hurry."
Just then, he saw it—The Rasengan started shrinking in size, condensing rapidly.
Without wasting time, Itachi leapt off the branch and pushed forward, increasing his speed. 'I'm almost there…'
…
Tsunade cursed under her breath as she leapt from rooftop to tree, her haori fluttering behind her as she entered the dense forest surrounding the Hidden Leaf.
Up ahead, she caught sight of Jiraiya darting through the trees, heading in the same direction.
Tsunade landed on a branch beside him just as the oppressive chakra pressure suddenly faded.
"It stopped," she said, hopping off the branch to the next.
Jiraiya landed beside her. "Looks like the kid managed to suppress the Nine-Tails."
Tsunade gave a quick nod. "That's good… but what worries me is what made Naruto tap into it in the first place. Was it the masked man? Did he—"
BOOM!
A massive shockwave swept through the forest.
The trees groaned and bent from the force. Both Jiraiya and Tsunade stopped mid-movement, landing hard on a thick branch and bracing themselves.
Dust and debris burst into the air, Tsunade covered her eyes with her forearm, squinting through the wind.
As the dust began to clear, she lowered her arm—and her eyes went wide.
A massive red Rasengan, crackling with red lightning, was clashing violently with an even larger sphere of swirling purple chakra. The sheer force from both jutsu tore through the forest, uprooting trees and shaking the ground.
Jiraiya stared at the clash in disbelief. "What the…?"
Tsunade grit her teeth. "Come on, Jiraiya! We need to hurry!" She leapt from the branch, racing toward the two colliding jutsu.
…
Elsewhere – Hiashi and Hotaru
Hiashi followed closely behind Hotaru, his eyes scanning ahead, Byakugan still active. As he felt the Nine-Tails' chakra begin to recede, he let out a quiet breath of relief.
"It seems Kaito-san or Kushina managed to stop the chakra leak… that's good," he muttered to himself. His range was around 1.3 kilometers, and with the distance still over 5 kilometers to the training ground, he couldn't yet see what was happening.
But then—he noticed something.
Hotaru's body suddenly stiffened. Hiashi focused in on her with his Byakugan, and his expression shifted. There were tears streaming down her face. Worried, he pushed himself faster and caught up to her.
"Hotaru, what's wrong? Can you see them? What's happening over there?"
Hotaru didn't look back. Her voice was strained, but determined.
"Kai…" She wiped her eyes with her wrist, narrowing her gaze. "They're hurt… we have to hurry, Father!" Without waiting for a response, she burst forward again, redoubling her speed.
Hiashi cursed under his breath and surged forward to keep up with her.
…
Boruto slowly stood, cradling his broken arm. Just then, a massive shockwave hit the area. The ground ripped apart. Trees were uprooted. Dirt and debris kicked up all around him.
Boruto shielded his eyes with his one good arm and dug his feet into the ground as the sheer force pushed him back, skidding through the dirt.
When the wind finally died down, he lowered his arm.
His eyes landed on the giant purple chakra sphere collapse inward—and from it, the massive red Rasengan reappeared, now fully formed and sparking with red lightning.
It shot off into the distance, carving a deep trench in the earth as it tore forward
Boruto turned his head just in time to see Itachi land in the clearing, just as, the Rasengan soared into the sky—then exploded in a blinding flash.
Itachi's Sharingan darted across the scene. He saw Kushina first—on her knees, clutching her stomach, clearly in pain but trying to stand.
then, his eyes found Naruto—unconscious on the ground, his body covered in patches of burned skin. Severe injuries, likely third-degree burns.
And finally to Boruto, his arm clearly broken and his face full of worry.
Itachi rushed over to Kushina. "Aunt Kushina, are you alright? You shouldn't be moving in your condition," he said, crouching beside her.
Kushina opened her eyes slowly and saw Itachi's face. "Itachi… -kun… plea… se… h-help… Kai…"
Itachi nodded without hesitation. "Right." He stood up instantly and vanished in a blur, body flickering out of the clearing.
Boruto rushed over, stumbling a little. "Baa-chan, are you okay?" He knelt beside her and helped her sit up with his one good hand, concern written all over his face.
Sasuke stood there, panting, his hand pressed tightly against his left shoulder where Urashiki had stab him with his chakra rod. Blood still trickled between his fingers. His eyes locked on Kaito, who was lying face down on the ground, unmoving.
'That chakra just now... I'm sure it was the Nine Tails. But... does he have the Nine Tails sealed inside him too? No… I think he used the chakra leaking out from Naruto…' Sasuke thought, frowning.
He began limping toward Kaito, dragging his injured leg across the dirt. But just as he got close—
He froze.
A cold blade pressed against the side of his neck.
Sasuke's eyes flicked to the side.
"Don't even try it," came a voice—low, calm, and all too familiar.
Sasuke's breath caught in his throat. That voice… it had been years since he heard it.
Itachi stood behind him, kunai to his neck, eyes narrowed. The Sharingan in his eyes spun violently as the three tomoe twisted and merged into three spiraling curves.
"Now tell me," Itachi said, his voice low and dangerous, "who are you?"
Sasuke opened his mouth to answer, but before he could say anything, a soft, calm voice came from Kaito's direction.
Itachi's eyes darted over as a small white snail with blue stripes slowly slid onto Kaito's back.
Katsuyu spoke gently, "He's an ally, Itachi-san. He helped defeat the enemy."
Itachi paused, taking in her words. Slowly, he lowered the kunai from Sasuke's neck.
As Sasuke turned to face him, Itachi's eyes widened slightly when he finally saw his face.
"...I'm sorry," Itachi said quietly.
Sasuke gave a light shrug. "It's fine."
"The enemy?" Itachi asked, his eyes lingering on Sasuke for a moment longer before he moved past him. He walked over to Kaito, knelt beside him, and gently flipped him onto his back.
Sasuke spoke up, his voice low. "That Rasengan just now… it took him out completely."
Itachi nodded, then asked, "Is he alright?", examining Kaito's injuries. His eyes narrowed as he noticed a fist-sized hole on his shirt and jacket over Kaito's chest. Blood had soaked through his shirt and jacket—there was no doubt he'd been pierced straight through.
'So that's what set Naruto off…' Itachi thought. 'He must've seen Kaito get stabbed and lost control of the Nine Tails' chakra.'
"Hai," Katsuyu said, her tone serious. "He's stable, but he needs medical attention. He used up a lot of chakra with that last attack."
"Right," Itachi said, adjusting his grip as he carefully lifted Kaito, slinging the boy's uninjured arm over his shoulder and rising to his feet.
He looked at Sasuke. "Can you walk?"
Sasuke nodded. "Yeah."
…
Back in the clearing after Itachi had left—
Tsunade and Jiraiya landed, their eyes quickly scanning the area.
Tsunade spotted Kushina hunched over in pain and rushed over. "Kushina! Are you alright? What happened?" she asked, kneeling beside her and helping her lie down gently.
Kushina's eyes were shut tight, her eyelids twitching as she winced from the pain.
Boruto stepped back to give Tsunade space.
Tsunade placed her palm over Kushina's stomach. She clicked her tongue. "Tch… you tried using your chakra again, didn't you?"
She turned her head toward Naruto, who Jiraiya was checking on a few feet away. "Jiraiya! Bring him here—I'll heal him," she barked.
Jiraiya nodded, gently picking up Naruto. He carried him over and laid him down to Tsunade's right. "Here, Tsunade. His skin's burnt—must be from the Nine Tails' chakra," Jiraiya said, frowning.
Tsunade nodded, placing her other hand on Naruto's chest. Her palms glowed green as she focused her healing jutsu. Naruto moaned as the raw, burned skin began to heal.
Tsunade's eyes shifted to Boruto, who was standing near Kushina, cradling his broken arm. "You. Kid. What happened here? What made Naruto tap into the Nine Tails' chakra? And where's Kaito?"
Boruto took a nervous step back. "Eh… well… that—"
Before he could finish, Itachi arrived, carrying Kaito over his shoulder. Sasuke landed behind him.
Jiraiya glanced at them and said, "Well, that answers that question," though his eyes stayed on Sasuke, wary.
Itachi walked straight to Tsunade. "Lady Tsunade, Kaito needs medical attention."
Just then, two more figures landed in the clearing.
Hotaru rushed over to Itachi, her eyes wide as she helped lower Kaito to the ground. She muttered under her breath, voice trembling, "Kai-kun…" Her hands carefully cradled his head into her lap. Her eyes welled up as she looked down at his chest—where just moments ago, there had been a hole.
Hiashi stood off to the side, arms crossed, silent.
Tsunade finished working on Kushina and sat back with a sigh. "There's only so much I can do to ease her pain. She needs the special pill made for her," she said, glancing around the clearing, trying to spot any bags or belongings.
Kushina was in too much pain to respond.
Boruto quickly spoke up. "Kaito had a bottle in his pouch."
Itachi knelt beside Kaito and unfastened his pouch, pulling out a small medicine bottle. "This one, Lady Tsunade?"
Tsunade took one look and nodded. "Yes, that's the one."
Itachi handed it over without a word. Tsunade quickly opened the bottle and helped Kushina swallow a few of the pills.
Within moments, Kushina's face softened, and her body finally relaxed. Her breathing evened out as she slipped into unconsciousness.
Tsunade let out a quiet breath, then stood up and walked over to Kaito. She placed her glowing palm over his chest—and frowned.
Hotaru, still cradling his head on her lap, leaned in with worry written all over her face. "Lady Tsunade… is he going to be alright?" she asked, her voice tight and desperate.
Tsunade nodded slowly, but her expression stayed serious. "Yes… but the kid burned through all his chakra. It'll take him a few days at least to recover. Severe chakra exhaustion… and with the injuries he took—"
Her eyes lingered on the spot where Kaito had been pierced, now slowly healing.
She turned her head toward Boruto and Sasuke. "Alright. One of you tell us what happened," she said, her voice firm and eyes narrowing.
Sasuke stepped forward. "We were attacked. It happened while we were training."
Jiraiya's gaze locked onto him. "Attacked by who?" he asked, his voice low, sharp.
Just then, Katsuyu slithered onto Kaito's chest and made her way up Tsunade's arm.
"I can answer that, Lord Jiraiya," she said.
Tsunade glanced down at her. "Katsuyu? Did Kaito summon you?"
"Hai," Katsuyu replied. "Kaito-kun summoned me earlier today to supervise his senjutsu training."
Hiashi's eyes widened slightly at that—Senjutsu?
Jiraiya nodded, serious. "Alright then—who attacked them, and why? What happened that caused Naruto to tap into the Nine Tails' chakra?"
Katsuyu said calmly, "I don't know who the enemy was, but he was very strong. Even with Sage Mode, Kaito-kun had a hard time fighting him."
Sasuke, standing beside Boruto, added, "That guy... he came looking for the Nine Tails sealed inside Naruto."
Jiraiya stiffened as he heard that.
Tsunade turned sharply to Sasuke. "He was after the Nine Tails?"
Katsuyu nodded. "Yes. He said it himself—that's what led to the fight with Kaito-kun. Sasuke-san here helped him."
Itachi's eyes narrowed the moment he heard the name. 'Sasuke…?'
Sasuke continued, his tone serious. "The enemy had some kind of space-time ninjutsu. He could rewind a few seconds back in time, made it hard to land a solid hit on him."
Tsunade frowned deeply. "Space-time ninjutsu? Was it the masked man?" she asked, her eyes narrowing in thought.
Itachi shook his head. "I don't think so, Lady Tsunade. This guy's ability... doesn't match the masked man's."
Jiraiya nodded. "So... where is he now?"
Sasuke replied, "Kaito killed him. with that Rasengan just before you arrived."
Jiraiya took that in, then asked, "Then what caused Naruto to lose control? Why did the Nine Tails' chakra come out?"
Katsuyu glanced over at Naruto and then spoke gently, "I believe seeing Kaito-kun get impaled through the chest triggered it. Naruto-kun might have thought his brother was killed."
Hotaru, placed a gentle hand on his chest, her expression tight with emotion.
Just then, another figure landed in the clearing.
Fugaku Uchiha folded his arms as he surveyed the scene. "I see everything's been handled," he said, his gaze moving from the unconscious Uzumaki family to Boruto and Sasuke.
Jiraiya glanced at Fugaku and nodded, then at Sasuke he asked, "So… all those explosions earlier?"
Sasuke glanced flicked to Fugaku for a split second before he replied, "It was a trap. Kaito set it to counter the enemy's space-time jutsu. But it didn't finish him off—he survived it and caught Kaito off guard. That's when he impaled him… and that's what triggered Naruto to release the Nine Tails' chakra. While I kept the enemy busy, Kaito suppressed the Nine Tails and then came back to finish the fight with his Rasengan."
Tsunade nodded, taking it all in. "I see..." Then she turned to Fugaku and Hiashi. "Fugaku, Hiashi—I want you both to search the surrounding area. Make sure the enemy didn't survive. Jiraiya, help them out."
She looked back at the injured group around her. "I'll take them back to the village so they can get proper treatment. Let them rest… after everything they've been through."
Fugaku, Hiashi, and Jiraiya all nodded silently before heading off into the trees.
