Which irritated the Beyonder and now he was planning to kill them, Dani Moonstar saw death visions above all her comrades.
"It's an illusion. This is not the truth, what I feared. This is madness a LIE, I WON'T BELIEVE IT," Dani shouted while holding her head.
But she understands, this is still going to happen. She ran away, and had another vision, this time of her grandfather, who recounted the conflict between the Cheyenne and the white settlers, and how the Cheyenne tried to face extermination with honor. But still she returned back at same position.
"Flight will not save you, Warlock. You have now pissed me off Mutants, it's time to show you my anger, or you will still come and bother me," Beyonder replied.
"I've got a bad feeling about this," Cannonball said, now he realized they need to return back, not follow him.
"It's late to return back now, I've already warned you, yet you refused me," Beyonder shouted at them.
"He's mad, in both senses of the word," Illyana said.
"You're cool as an ice chief. ain't you afraid? Scared stiff," Sam asked Dani.
"Yes, I am, but I won't let the Beyonder see that," Dani replied.
"I was your chosen messenger. Spare my friends… I beg you. If anyone must pay the price of following you, let it be me alone!" Magik offered herself up as a sacrifice in exchange for the lives of the others.
Beyonder disintegrated her with no regard for the deal. The other attacked, with no affect. He killed Karma by reflecting her power back at her.
"Butcher! Murderer! Let Magma's flames consign you to the cruelest pits of tartarus, forever!" Magma shouted with her full fury.
"I am time and space personified, finite and yet infinite. The whole Galaxies have I crushed. And stars created. Your flames are less than nothing," Beyonder said, as he stands up in their flames, but nothing happened to him.
" How about me, Creed, and my best sunday punch!" Cannonball shouted as he attacked with his full force.t
Warlock attacked with their full fury, Warlock's being especially powerful, and the Beyonder lay on the ground. However, he was just teasing out the battle to make them feel all the worse. He stood up and closed Magma and Cannonball in a crevasse.
He disintegrated Warlock, Cypher, and Wolfsbane. Moonstar was the only one left. She flew towards the Beyonder on her flying horse and touched him on the chest, counting a coup in the tradition of the Cheyenne warriors from whom she was descended, before he killed her as well. He then erased all memory of them from the universe.
Back in San Francisco, Rachel was only more determined to kill the Beyonder, and she still retained the power he had given her. She has caught Carol Danvers, and absorbed her powers and life force inside her, even Carol Danvers becoming the part of Rachel, making her more stronger than before.
"She has become a part of me, but I had no choice. The Beyonder is so strong, and I need to be stronger to beat him," Rachel said, as she returned back to Xavier's Mansion.
She noticed Kitty was sitting outside of the Mansion, "Hey, Kitty, you're up late! You takin' your Shadowcat identity to heart, girl? Kitty, are you okay?"
Rachel asked, when Kitty didn't reply to her, Kitty lowered down her clothes, and showed her one hand was transformed into metal.
"What's the devil?" Rachel asked her.
"It's the Eldritch armor that appears whenever my best friend, Illyana Rasputin, uses her magic. It's bonded to my skin as if it's a living part of me just like it was with hers. And this sword her Soulsword. The sum and substance of her arcane might," Kitty showed the Soulsword.
"What is all this Kitty, what are you talking about?" Rachel asked her, she was confused.
"Don't you recognize it? Or remember her?! My roommate, Rachel. Our teammate's Colossus' little sister?" Kitty asked her.
"What're you talking about, Cat? You have no roommate… And Colossus sure doesn't have a sister. How can you remember somebody who doesn't exist?" Rachel asked.
"What about the New Mutants?" Kitty asked back.
"Who're they? Cut this out, girl! It's too late and I am too tired- for your games!" Rachel replied.
"He did it! He killed them, Rachel! They were kids, some of them hardly more than babies and he erased them. As casually and completely as we might wipe words off a blackboard," Rachel said in shocked tone, as she stood up, her half of body covered with Eldritch armor.
"Who?" Rachel asked her.
"The Beyonder! He slaughtered them! But for some reason, maybe because Illyana and I have some sort of bond between our souls, I remember it."
"A few weeks back he stripped her of her magic and made her his disciple. That's when I discovered our link, because her sword and armor suddenly came to me. And then you send to fight the Beyonder, and he erased them."
"I'm the only person who knows she and the New Mutants ever existed. But no one believes me! Don't any of you understand? They were just the warm-up! The X-Men are the main event! Sooner or later, he'll do to us what he did to them. We won't even be able to stop him," Kitty replied as she started crying.
"You're wrong Kitty?" Rachel said, although she didn't remember New Mutants, she clearly remembered the Beyonder.
"What chance have we against a creature like that? We're only human," Kitty denied.
"You're human Kitty, Phoenix isn't. The Beyonder gave me a portion of his might, enough for me to kill him. But doing so would have meant your death. I chose to save you, only he never took the power back. It's still within me and I mean to use it," Rachel replied.
"You're gonna tackle him one-on-one. That's suiside Rachel. What will you do to stop him from reabsorbing that energy, the moment you show your face?" Kitty asked Rachel.
"Nothing, if I confront him directly. But i've a better idea. What happens if the Universe he inhabits ceases to exist?" Rachel asked
"You can do that, destroy everything?" Rogue asked, she has also come there.
"With a little help from my friends. There's nothing to lose, Kitty and Rogue. From his actions, he's planning to destroy us anyway, isn't that what you believe? At least we can ensure that whomever comes after us won't have his madness to threaten them."
"But I can't do it completely on my own, I need your strength, your life force, your spirits.. To sustain me. My mother, the original Phoenix, sacrificed her life force for the Universe. Can we do any less?" Rachel revealed her plan.
"Kitty, wait?" Rogue said.
"For what, this may be our only choice, to do it to him, before he does it to us," Kitty said and then she merged into Rachel.
"She's a part of me now. Will you join her, Rogue," Rachel asked looking at the Rogue, Rogue nodded and she also became the part of Phoenix.
The other X-Men, some willingly, some possibly under her psychic influence, and some unwillingly, joined their life forces to hers.
She absorbed Wolverine and Magneto, but when she went to Storm, Storm argued with her, "This is wrong, Rachel you must stop, while you are still able!"
"I hoped you'd understand, Ororo. I can't let the Beyonder go on. If you won't give freely of your soul force, Ororo…" Rachel said as she also absorbed the Ororo inside her.
"I simply take what I need," Rachel shouted, as she expanded her power across the universe, binding with all that she was going to destroy.
Nothing is beyond her, no earthly power can oppose her, she has become all she ever dreamed of… And far, far more.
A blink of an eye… And Phoenix is out of the Milky Way Galaxy, Rachel had a new idea, go to the M'Kraan Crystal, from which the Phoenix derived its power, and destroy it.
This would destroy the universe as well, although a new universe would take its place. She hoped that with the current universe destroyed, the Beyonder would lose interest in it, and would at least not destroy the future universe.
Whereas if he continued on his present course, he would probably destroy not only the current universe but any future ones as well. It was a desperate gamble, to say the least. They all traveled to the Crystal.
