It is mildly unnerving to awaken to blue eyes quite so close to my face. Especially staring.
"Hello, May." I greet her, rubbing my eyes with the back of my wrist.
She smiles. "Hi, Auntie!" She exclaims happily. "I was waiting for you to wake up!"
That much is rather evident. Though the why has yet to be explained.
I arch an eyebrow. "Oh?"
"Yeah! Because! I'm gonna! Be the one! Who wakes you up!"
I hum in acknowledgement. "You have certainly succeeded."
Whether the little one staring at me actually caused me to stir or not, I'm certainly more awake than before just from how close she is to my face. Or, well, how close she was.
She's granted me a merciful bit of space to breathe since waking.
She beams and giggles. "Yeah!"
I smile, and pat her head. "Good morning." She's very sweet.
Energetic and extra, of course. Always that. But sweet, too.
And also very silly, too. But that's to be expected, I think. She's still a child, after all.
