"Are werewolves afraid of silver too?" On the other side, still studying the relationship between moonlight and his own powers, Robert received Peter Parker's hypothesis. His eyes flickered slightly. "Some demons are also afraid of silver. Peter's conjecture might not be wrong. There should indeed be a special dimension where this is true..."
"However, finding that dimension won't be easy. We've never focused on this before. I've killed quite a few demons from dimensions other than the hell dimension, but who knows if they're afraid of silver? After all, I didn't need silver to deal with those small demons..."
"Now, although demons still appear on Earth occasionally, there aren't as many as before. Most of them seem to come from the hell dimension. Finding the demons Blade mentioned, those afraid of silver, won't be easy..."
"So it looks like I still need to infer from the origin of vampires and werewolves. Once these two races are completely dealt with, the mastermind behind them will certainly be forced out. Then, I can witness the power of those from that dimension!"
Robert's eyes shone with a bright light. Though he had just gone through a major battle, finding the mastermind behind the vampires and werewolves wouldn't be an overnight task. By the time he found these beings, he should have already mastered the power of moonlight.
Meanwhile, in the stronghold of the European vampire and werewolf factions, although the werewolves and vampires had successfully gathered together after recognizing their common ancestor, they still lived in adjacent areas rather than truly cohabiting.
Even though they shared a common ancestor, they had evolved into two different species with completely different lifestyles, making it impossible for them to live together.
Moreover, before recognizing their common ancestor, they were enemies, no different from the werewolves and vampires in America or other parts of the world. If it weren't for their powerful ancestor, who had absolute control over them, they wouldn't have united into one faction.
After merging, the lower-ranking vampires and werewolves followed orders obediently, not daring to provoke the other side to avoid displeasing their superiors.
But the leaders of the vampires and werewolves were different. Forced to unite, they naturally felt some resentment. They only pretended to get along because of the powerful ancestor keeping them in check. This time, even when the Americans plotted against them, they cooperated and sent people to investigate.
However, the vampire and werewolf leaders didn't expect their subordinates to be wiped out so quickly. The returning messengers didn't even know how their comrades had died...
This immediately alerted the vampires and werewolves. Naturally, their first suspect was the American government. Despite everything, the American authorities had never given up on investigating them, so they suspected their subordinates had been discovered and killed by American agencies.
"When will they be back?" In an airtight room, the werewolf and vampire leaders appeared. The werewolf leader and vampire leader didn't even look at each other, focusing instead on their vampire subordinates. The werewolf leader spoke first.
"Soon. They took a special route through European official channels, returning as quickly as possible!" A vampire hesitated, glanced at his silent leader, and replied honestly.
"Hmph! I suspect it's your so-called official channel that's the problem! Otherwise, how could they have been exposed so quickly, with no progress made?!" The werewolf leader's eyes flashed coldly as he glanced at the vampire leader and said to the speaking vampire.
"Your official channels are unreliable, leaking their tracks. Don't forget, the American agencies are everywhere. Your so-called official channels might be under their surveillance!"
"Hmph! Now you complain about our official channels? Find your own then! You're just a barking dog at your own people!" The vampire leader couldn't hold back upon hearing the werewolf leader's words. He sneered at the werewolf leader disdainfully.
"Don't forget, your werewolf pack lives off our vampire money! You avoid government scrutiny because we control some officials. Otherwise, how could you have grown so much, even dreaming of going to the moon to find corpses to eat?"
"Say that again?!" The werewolf leader roared in anger, his eyes blazing, but he had no rebuttal to the vampire leader's words.
Because aside from the taunting and malice, the vampire leader's statements were largely true. The European government had long cooperated with the vampires, who had used official power against the werewolves, nearly driving them to extinction.
Compared to the brute-force werewolves, vampires could entice humans with benefits like immortality or extended life, gaining extraordinary power.
Under such temptation, many high-ranking officials were swayed, not wanting to die, which gave vampires significant opportunities to control many government agencies.
Especially in Europe, where some old nobility still existed. Though not as powerful as before, their influence remained. Collectively, they could boost vampire influence, allowing vampires to maintain a privileged aristocratic lifestyle in expensive castles.
After the vampire-werewolf merger, the werewolves shed their previous miserable conditions. By the ancestor's special orders, they finally had money, all from the vampires. Whether for living expenses or research funding...
So, naturally, the vampire leader felt aggrieved. The werewolves lived off his resources and still showed him disdain. If it weren't for the ancestor's pressure, he would've torn the werewolf leader and his pack apart long ago!
The werewolves, however, saw no issue with using vampire money. Especially the werewolf leader, who felt it was their due. The vampires had killed many werewolves, nearly wiping them out. Why shouldn't they take some money? Vampires earned money easily, often not their own. Why couldn't werewolves use it?
Thus, the werewolf leader felt no gratitude, instead seeing it as their rightful compensation. Seeing the vampire leader's scornful face, he naturally felt angry too...
Despite the successful merger, the vampires and werewolves were still at odds. Perhaps after many years, this might improve, with new generations growing closer. But as long as the current vampire and werewolf leaders remained, this issue would never be resolved...
"Fine! Since you despise us so much, we'll stop using your money. We don't need to live so close either. I fear some stinking bats might sneak up and bite my neck on dark nights!" After a moment of silence, the werewolf leader glared at the vampire leader and made a bold declaration.
As his words fell, the vampire leader's expression changed slightly. The surrounding vampire and werewolf leaders looked at the werewolf leader in surprise. Some werewolf leaders seemed to want to remind him...
"Bang!" Suddenly, the werewolf leader's body flew into the wall, and a figure appeared on the vacant seat, coldly staring at the werewolf leader.
The newcomer was none other than the ancestor both vampires and werewolves revered. His head was full of white hair, resembling a frail old man, seemingly struggling to move. But it was he who had just sent the werewolf leader flying.
"I just heard you want to break away?" The ancestor's voice was icy as he looked at the werewolf leader embedded in the wall.
"Sorry, ancestor. I got carried away. I have no intention of breaking away..." The werewolf leader struggled out of the wall, his injuries slowly healing. He bowed his head, sincerely admitting his mistake, showing none of his previous arrogance and anger.
"So, have you figured out what happened? Your people were killed, and it's over? Do you have no information on why the American agencies are targeting you? Marcus, you've controlled so many high-ranking humans, are they of no use?" The ancestor's gaze swept over the vampire leader William and the werewolf leader as he spoke.
"And you, William, do you only vent your anger on your kin? Can't you direct your rage at the mastermind behind the plot against vampires and werewolves? Don't forget, their primary target is the werewolves!"
"I personally gave you the names William and Marcus, treating you like my sons. I also granted you great power to secure your positions. Now, even when facing external threats, you prefer internal strife. Perhaps I should consider replacing William and Marcus with new leaders for the werewolves and vampires..."
As the ancestor's words fell, William and Marcus's expressions changed. The surrounding vampire and werewolf leaders' eyes lit up, quickly bowing their heads to hide their excitement.
William and Marcus owed their current power and status to the ancestor. Before his arrival, both clans were weak, torn apart by internal conflicts and mutual slaughter.
But with the ancestor's arrival, uniting the two clans and bestowing power and names on William and Marcus, they began to thrive again. William and Marcus were names of the ancestor's sons, the legendary source of power for this lineage of vampires and werewolves!
"Sorry, ancestor! Please forgive our recklessness. We will arrange for a thorough investigation immediately. If necessary, I will personally take action!" Marcus quickly knelt down, respectfully assuring the ancestor.
"I will also take action. Please forgive us, ancestor!" William knelt down and promised.
"Get out! I don't want to see any more infighting here. I want the truth about this situation quickly!" The ancestor waved his hand, and the vampires and werewolves were all teleported out of the secret room, leaving him alone.
"Has someone discovered me? Are they trying to steal my power and immortality?" The ancestor sat alone in the secret room, his eyes flickering as he pondered. "How did I get exposed? I've dealt with all the traitorous children. Selene, Michael, all rebellions have been quelled. My existence shouldn't be known..."
"If they wanted to study vampires and werewolves, there are plenty in America. Why come all the way here? Is it because the news of the vampire-werewolf merger leaked? But who else besides my children knows about this?"
"I've hidden so well, yet you found me. I can't let you go now. Whoever you are, you will face my wrath, the wrath of an immortal who has lived for millennia. No one can withstand it! Come on, let me see who you are..."
