Xiao Changyi and An Jing quickly stuffed a piece of preserved fruit into each of the four little ones' mouths as soon as they saw them.

After they had taken the medicine, it wasn't long before the four little ones felt sleepy. An Jing knew the medicine was taking effect and didn't stop them; she let them lie back down in bed to sleep.
Then, An Jing and Xiao Changyi sat by the bedside, watching over them.
The two first looked at the children on the bed, feeling as if they had regained something precious. For a long while, they just looked at each other, not speaking, yet their hands were tightly clasped together.
