"You went overboard," was the first thing D-dee said to Ess when he stepped back into the van. Curiously, she was rubbing her lips and mouth vigorously with a handkerchief as she said it.
Ess plopped onto the seat next to her and received Donut, who jumped onto his lap excitedly.
"I did just as you said," Ess scoffed.
"I said a hug would be fine."
"Potato tomato."
Outside the van, the old lady was looking in the direction she had seen Ess disappear to, baffled. Ess hadn't lingered after leaving her so passionate. Some of the passersby were also frozen in place, unsure how process what they'd just seen.
