That night—well, not exactly night, but something close to it—felt like night to Aether, even though the sky above was a dull, oppressive shade of grey.
Anyway, before Nyx could make her way back home, Aether and Nightfire jogged their way to the house.
Of course, Aether couldn't avoid bumping into trouble—he ended up getting hit by a woman… and even by some guy. Nightfire, though, was quick to step in, her eyes flashing with irritation as she made sure to scare both of them off without a second thought.
After that, Nightfire headed back to her own house. Her shift was done, and she had no reason to stay longer.
Later, when Nyx finally returned home, her appearance was eerily perfect. Her clothes were clean, her long braided hair still neatly tied, and there wasn't even a single speck of dirt on her—like she hadn't just been out digging a grave with her bare hands.
