The blazing flames surged within the furnace, the oppressive heat seemingly intent on evaporating the last drops of moisture from the air. Levin licked his parched lips, his eyes fixed unblinkingly on the dragon egg deep within the mouth of the furnace.
The temperature was well-maintained, hovering around five hundred degrees. This scorching process had already gone on for a week, and Levin couldn't help but worry if the dragon egg was being roasted to its death.
"The Great Pontiff has arrived!"
There was some commotion outside, and soon Marvin walked in amidst the craftsmen's accompaniment. After exchanging a glance with Levin, he asked, "I've come to check on the progress."
"There's still no sign of hatching," Levin replied. "If Baji's assessment is wrong and this isn't a Thorn Fire Dragon egg…"
"Dragon eggs possess excellent heat resistance; their shells serve as the best protection for hatchling dragons. Baji has vast experience; he shouldn't be mistaken."
