Chapter 181 - Ch. 183

"And the same goes for you," Harry replied. "but once again, I am sorry. The accords took up a lot of my time, and now with Nat being pregnant I just…"

"Harry," Sif cut him off. "I understand, I am not a little girl who will be upset if you don't spend time a lot of time with me every single day. You have your duties, not just in your relationship with myself but also your relationship with Natasha, your job as an Avenger and the other responsibilities that will be thrust upon you when you finally become a father. I might not be in your situation but I can understand well enough."

"Thank you." Harry said in a quiet voice.

"You are very much welcome," Sif nodded to him. "also it goes without saying that from tonight to tomorrow morning you are all mine." She said with a bright twinkle in her eye as she took a sip from her drink.

"The sacrifices I have to make." Harry tutted and shook his head in a fake show of sorrow.

.....

The next morning Harry's eyes slowly filtered open, he opened and closed them a few times to shove all the dust and sleep out of his eyelids. He turned his head to the side when he heard the sound of soft breathing, he saw Sif lying in bed, she was wearing the same amount of clothes as he was, which was none. The only thing covering them both was the bed cover. Her head was resting on his shoulder and chest, she had an arm over his torso, and he could feel one of her legs draped over one of his as she pressed her body into his side.

Harry leaned his head over and planted a soft kiss on her forehead, being careful not to wake her up.

"Morning." She hummed without opening her eyes, apparently he hadn't been careful enough, either that or she had actually already been awake and simply just didn't want to get out of bed.

"Morning." Harry said. "Good sleep?" He asked.

"Yes, how about you?" She asked, snuggling into his side. "Did you have any dreams?"

"It was alright," Harry answered. "no dreams, no nightmares either." Harry added with a small shake of his head. "Why do you ask?" He asked.

"I had a dream." She told him.

"Oh? A good one?"

"A great one." She said with a sleepy smile.

"What was it about?" Harry asked, his hand rubbing circles on her back.

"Well… Natasha wasn't the only one who was having a baby." Sif said, eyes opening and meeting Harry's surprised green ones. "It was a really nice dream."

"I'll take you word for it," Harry responded before taking a breath. "was this one of those dreams that you want to come true?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It might have been," Sif said in a quiet voice. "what do you think about it?" She asked.

"I would say my limit is one pregnant woman at a time." Harry responded. "We both know that that's not a simple decision, after Nat has the baby, I'd be willing to sit down and talk about it with you."

"You promise?" She asked, she was not entirely sure that she was yet ready to have children but it was something that she thought they seriously needed to discuss if their relationship was going to continue moving forwards, she didn't want either of them to have any false ideas about if the other wanted kids or when the other person wanted kids. Having kids was especially a serious thing in Asgard, part of the reason why was because of how long of a life span an Asgardian possessed.

"I promise," Harry nodded. "after Natasha has given birth and I take a few months to get my bearings, then I will talk to you about having kids. I swear." He said while looking at her, his emerald green eyes locked onto hers as if he was trying to convince her through his eyes, and it seemed to have worked.

"Thank you." Sif smiled at him briefly before a thought occurred to her. "Did… did you ever have children on your last world?" She asked curiously, keeping a careful eye on his facial expression, hoping that the question didn't bother him too much.

"No," Harry sighed. "I had my godson, Teddy, but that was it."

"Really?"

"In my last world kids were considered to simply be bad things that got you killed." Harry shrugged.

"Harry!" Sif gasped.

"I don't mean that as an insult," Harry continued speaking before she could start getting angry. "they could actually get you killed. If you had a child then your options were to either let him or her die or waste a great amount of effort in trying to protect them which could in turn get you killed which would then likely result in them getting killed anyway. It was a world of survival, if you couldn't survive then you had no place in it. If anyone on my side did have kids then then other side would target them and try to kill them."

"W… what if they had kids?" Sif asked. "What would you do with the enemies children?"

"It would depend on how young they were." Harry answered, looking quite sad. "If they were very, very young like babies then we would try and keep them away from the death eaters and just do our best to make sure they grow up and we tried our best to limit how badly the war affected them. If they were older and had already been taught bad things by the enemy then we tried our best to teach them why it was wrong, for the most part it depended on lots of things such as age, life experiences, we generally just did our best to keep them happy and safe."

"Did… did you ever harm any of the children? Not you, I mean!" She quickly added the last part before he could respond. "Did… did your men and women ever harm the children?" She asked, to Harry it looked like she was struggling with the thought of children being harmed. Harry knew that she knew it was possible, it was damn near impossible for someone who lived as long as her to not know that, but she still clearly didn't like it.

"One person did," Harry answered, closing his eyes as he did so. "his name was Zacharias Smith, he was in my year at school. He had always been a cocky and arrogant little shit, he had always been difficult. I had very early on made it clear that children were not to be harmed, that if anyone did so then they would answer to me. One day I attacked a massive party that one of Voldemort's men was hosting, I had managed to kill a few death eaters and steal quite a bit of money, but that was never my true objective. The point was to distract them so my people could raid somewhere else. When I got back they had managed to get some rare books, quite a few magical items and a lot of money, but they also had a dead baby with them."

"No!" Sif breathed, looking horrified.

"I questioned them," Harry continued, his eyes were still closed. "eventually I found out that Smith had killed the baby to prevent 'more enemies' from growing up."

"What happened then?" She asked, Harry opened his eyes and looked at her.

"I made an example of him," He said, giving her an intense stare. "after that nobody on my side harmed kids again. When my child arrives, he or she will become my world. And I will do everything in my power to protect my family."

.....

"Harry," Natasha said the next day when Harry started eating breakfast. "there's a note for you." She said. "It just dropped next to me before you came in."

"What the hell does she want now?" Harry frowned as he read the note. He shook his head before placing it down and starting to eat.

"Well?" Natasha asked.

"It was the Ancient One." Harry shrugged. "I'll eat my breakfast then go over and see what she wants."
