Mai's mom noticed her daughter's anxious expression and suspiciously looked at her for a moment, "Xiaomai, I always feel something's off with you today. Did you find out about some terminal illness? Is that why you were saying weirdly over the phone that you love me and being so eager to help in the kitchen?"
Mai Xiaomai broke out in a sweat, "Mom, your imagination is running way too wild."
