"But I can't just stand by and watch some other woman bear your child!" Chen Zhi contested with a sense of grievance.
"Do you think I want someone else to bear my child? I only want one from you. If it's not yours, do you think I would care for it?"
Chen Zhi felt a momentary daze, a sweet sensation slipping through her heart. She deliberately pouted and complained, "I thought you liked children very much and really wanted one. I thought, no matter which woman gave birth, you would probably love the child."
Si Ye knew his words had misled her before, but he couldn't possibly tell her the truth.
"You're not wrong, I do really want a child. But if it's not yours, what's it to me?!"
"Why does it have to be one born by me?" Chen Zhi nervously shot back.
"You're my wife, of course, it has to be one born by you," Si Ye said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Chen Zhi got angry, "Just because I'm your wife, that's why you want me to bear the child?"
