"Do you feel anything?"
"Huh?" On the other side of the island, Robin, currently asking an okama chef for cooking tips, paused and responded through the Den Den Mushi, "I don't feel anything. Why?"
"I was talking to Little Green…"
Liam pushed the swirling magnetic ball almost right into Little Green's face. The Den Den Mushi, still mimicking Jolyne, showed a look of utter confusion.
"No reaction? Doesn't work? Could it be because there's only magnetism and no electricity?"
Liam glanced at a nearby black combat suit, which was currently training alone by the pink rock formations. He briefly considered asking it to pull up high school physics notes on electromagnetism, but the mere thought gave him a sharp headache, and he immediately gave up.
"Electromagnetic conversion… something about rotation?" He recalled that maybe he needed to rotate it constantly while maintaining the magnetic field.
With a slight twist of his palm, the magnetic energy began to rotate.
Why does this feel so familiar…?
The magnet-powered Liam stared at the rotating ball of chaotic magnetic energy in his hand.
Oh. It's a Rasengan.
"Zzzt... zzzt zzzt..."
He didn't know how long he'd been spinning it, but just as he started to feel like he was about to perform a Lightning Release: Giant Rasengan, a new sound reached his ears.
"Zzzt… zzzt zzzt…"
He focused. In the air above his palm, previously filled with only chaotic magnetic force, small arcs of electricity began to appear.
"Hey, I really did create electricity… Too bad I don't have any coins!"
Using the Magnet-Magnet Fruit, Liam continued to increase the intensity of the chaotic, wildly spinning magnetic force in his palm.
He frowned. This use of the Devil Fruit was clearly draining his stamina faster!
Though not to the point of exhaustion, it was enough that even someone with monster-level stamina like Liam could noticeably feel the drain, which said a lot about how demanding this usage method was.
But the payoff was worth it: the arcs of electricity in the air above his hand grew more numerous, denser, and brighter.
"How about now? Feeling anything?" he asked.
The green Den Den Mushi, still mimicking Jolyne, replied, "Just now… your voice… changed…"
The sound quality had finally begun to fluctuate. Since Den Den Mushi are living creatures, not mechanical devices, they don't produce static like machines. But when the communication signal between the two Den Den Mushi began to falter, Little Green's behavior changed, its mimicked expression and speech became hesitant, unsure whether it was transmitting things correctly.
Liam grinned. "Looks like it's working."
Zap!
A spark of electricity leapt out and struck the green Den Den Mushi's forehead, puffing out a small cloud of smoke.
"Buluru!"
The Den Den Mushi yelped in pain.
"Ha ha ha!" Liam laughed. "Aren't you part of the City Fortress now? How can a tiny shock hurt you?"
Zap!
A finger-thick arc of electricity brushed against Liam's hand, triggering a mini-explosion of smoke.
"Damn it!"
Liam yelped, dispersing the magnetic energy and quickly shaking his hand.
But in the process of shaking it off, his motion triggered more of the electrically charged air around him, igniting a cascade of "pi li pa la", snaps and crackles of sparks everywhere.
"You okay? What happened?" Robin's concerned voice came through via the Den Den Mushi.
But the expression on Little Green, still mimicking Jolyne, looked distinctly smug and gloating, completely mismatched with Robin's worried tone.
Liam shook out his arm, hissing through his teeth. Flexing his fingers and adjusting to the tingling, he finally answered, "I'm fine. Just… got a little zapped."
Although the lightning strike didn't cause Liam even a sliver of actual damage, basically, it didn't even scratch his HP bar; that was expected. After all, in the manga, even Enel's so-called divine strike with tens of millions of volts couldn't fry a regular undying person... Liam was tanky thanks to his training. His prolonged physical conditioning had also sharpened his bodily awareness. The pain from the lightning hadn't intensified, but he could perceive it with far greater clarity.
A master of Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki) could likely sense even a single feather landing on their clothes if they focused. So of course Liam could feel an arc of electricity numbing its way around his arm.
In the Okama Kingdom kitchen:
Koala nibbled on snacks while Robin listened to the Den Den Mushi nearby, which was currently mimicking Liam talking to himself:
"The Magnet-Magnet Fruit really can't steal the job of the Goro Goro no Mi (Rumble-Rumble Fruit)… First off, it's extremely dangerous. Before I can even develop lightning attacks to hit enemies, I'm more likely to fry myself first…"
Robin smiled wryly and shook her head in resignation before turning back to ask the Okama chef for more cooking tips.
She and Liam usually took turns cooking, but Liam's culinary skills were… barely passable.
Robin didn't mind eating whatever mediocre food Liam made, but if she could learn to cook better dishes for Liam, that would be even better.
Momoiro Island, seaside:
The JOJO Pirate Ship was fished out of the green Den Den Mushi's mouth by Paulie and tossed onto the sea surface.
Seeing such a move left not only the ragtag swordsmen who had gathered wide-eyed, but even the Okamas on the island stunned in place.
Robin, holding the green Den Den Mushi in one hand and Koala's hand in the other, stepped aboard the ship.
Liam casually tossed an Eternal Pose pointing to Koala's hometown, Foolshout Island, to B.I.B., and with one swift kick sent a sneaky swordsman trying to climb onboard flying back to shore.
The swordsman landed flat on the beach, where a row of buff Okama Barbies stood behind him. With teary eyes, he watched the JOJO Pirate Ship sail further and further away from the island.
Looking at the slowly disappearing silhouette of Momoiro Island, Liam suddenly said with emotion, "A person's strength has its limits…"
Robin looked at him questioningly.
"You know," Liam said slowly, "each island is like a massive magnetic vortex, forming a dense magnetic network across the Grand Line... While testing out techniques with Little Green, I suddenly wondered, what if I could amplify my techniques by drawing on the massive magnetic field of the island beneath me?"
Robin thought about it, then replied, "If that's possible, such intense magnetic interference could disrupt even the island's weather patterns…"
"'A king who can dispel even natural disasters,' huh…" Liam murmured.
"Giorno-nii, are we heading to a vacation island now?" Koala tugged at Liam's sleeve.
The next day, Grand Line, Foolshout Island:
A small sailing ship with a JOJO-style skull emblem slowly approached the coastline.
On the deck, Liam, Robin, and Koala flew out of the Den Den Mushi "City Fortress."
Looking at her homeland, now just within reach, Koala bit her lip and tightly held Jolyne-neesan's hand. Her eyes quickly reddened.
Standing beside B.I.B., Liam gazed around the island. All over the place were enormous cactus plants. Somehow, this island's landscape felt oddly familiar to him…
