Chapter 602 - 601. Searching for Batman.

Blue Area of the Moon, Former Attilan.

This was once the home of the Inhumans, a unique race that was similar to but fundamentally different from mutants.

Unlike mutants, who gained their abilities through the activation of the X-gene, the Inhumans originated from Kree experiments on ancient humans.

In ancient times, the Kree were engaged in a brutal war with the Skrulls. As part of their strategy, they came to Earth and conducted a series of experiments on early humans.

Eventually, they succeeded in creating a race with extraordinary abilities—the first generation of Inhumans.

But in the Wasteland Universe, this once-mighty species had long since faded into history.

During the War of the Past, Red Skull didn't just destroy magical artifacts—he also wiped out the Terrigen Crystals, the key to activating the Inhumans' abilities.

Without the Terrigen Mist to awaken their powers, and with the strongest Inhumans having sacrificed themselves to defend Attilan, the remaining population gradually became ordinary humans.

Later, HYDRA seized control of the Moon and took over Attilan. After Red Skull's downfall, a massive coup erupted within the city.

The HYDRA regime in Attilan was overthrown by a resistance force, and the conflict raged for months, consuming the entire city in war. When it became clear that Attilan was on the verge of destruction and that everyone on the Moon might perish, both sides were forced to sign a ceasefire agreement.

The battle remained largely unknown because it was contained within the Moon's Blue Area, preventing Earth's heroes from detecting it.

At the time, the heroes of the Wasteland were busy dealing with the chaos left behind by HYDRA, and Alex and his team had traveled to the Apokolips War Universe, leaving them unable to intervene.

By the time the heroes discovered what had happened, Attilan had already transformed into one of the most unique cities in the universe.

With Earth successfully repelling and destroying Galactus and the Universal Church of Truth, many cosmic civilizations now sought to establish diplomatic relations with humanity.

At the same time, countless interstellar refugees decided to migrate to the Solar System. Even if Earth didn't allow them to settle, they could still find other places within the system to survive.

For these displaced aliens, Attilan in the Moon's Blue Area became the perfect refuge.

Over time, Attilan was repopulated by beings from various civilizations, and its population surged back to its former peak.

To put it in perspective—after the coup, Attilan's population had been reduced to just one-twentieth of its original size. Now, with its numbers restored, the sheer influx of "outsiders" was undeniable.

Present-Day Attilan

The city had become a lawless zone, home to rebel factions, remnants of HYDRA, alien syndicates, interstellar pirates, and mercenaries.

Those who thrived here were killers, criminals, and outlaws—forming a chaotic underworld ruled by an evil sense of order.

Now that the Justice League was aware of Attilan's condition, they couldn't simply stand by.

Especially since Attilan was so close to Earth—if these criminals ever decided to launch an attack, the consequences would be catastrophic.

Thus, Watchtower's overseer, Batman, personally infiltrated Attilan. He remained hidden, moving between factions, silently observing the situation.

-------------------------

Nightfall.

A dark figure moved swiftly across the rooftops of the shadowy city.

A few seconds later, multiple figures leaped from skyscraper to skyscraper, giving chase.

The quiet city was suddenly filled with hurried footsteps. Black silhouettes dashed through alleys and streets in a relentless pursuit.

"Batman, you're not getting away!"

A red-skinned alien bared his sharp fangs, his mouth twisted in a menacing grin. In his hand, a high-tech laser rifle locked onto the dark figure ahead.

With a sharp zap, a laser beam shot from the barrel, burning a finger-sized hole through a nearby wall.

The alien growled in frustration, his aim narrowly missing its mark.

"Kill him! Don't let this bastard escape!"

At his command, the pursuing aliens increased their speed, closing in on Batman.

Calculating the distance between himself and his pursuers, Batman suddenly veered sideways, vaulting over a steel beam. In one smooth motion, he fired a grappling hook, latching onto the edge of a distant rooftop.

With a sharp pull, the device retracted, launching Batman through the air.

Landing gracefully on the building's ledge, he turned his cold gaze toward his relentless pursuers, his face unreadable.

"He's right there! He's trapped!"

The red-skinned alien sneered, activating the propulsion system on his boots. He and his crew rocketed toward Batman.

"This is our turf, Batman. You messed with the wrong people. Tonight, I'll show you what Megans are capable of!"

Standing at the edge of the rooftop, Batman remained still, seemingly unfazed by the threats.

As they closed in, he abruptly turned and sprinted away.

The chase continued for another ten minutes.

When Batman vaulted onto yet another rooftop, he suddenly skidded to a stop.

Something was off.

The once chaotic city had fallen eerily silent.

The distant hum of casinos and bars could still be faintly heard, but the rest of the city was unnaturally still.

His frown deepened as his sharp eyes scanned the darkness.

Then—

A flicker of movement.

Batman reacted instantly, spinning around and flinging a batarang toward the shadows.

The weapon whistled through the air, its sharp edge slicing toward the unseen presence—

Only to come to a complete halt, suspended in midair.

"I think you owe me a thank you."

A voice chuckled from the darkness.

A faint green glow illuminated the scene as a figure stepped forward—Tony Stark, clad in his sorcerer's robes.

The batarang hovered above his palm, trapped by an invisible force, spinning idly.

Seeing Stark before him, Batman didn't look the least bit pleased. If anything, his expression grew colder.

"What are you doing here?"

"What am I doing here?"

Tony Stark raised an eyebrow, unable to resist a smirk. "Come on, if it weren't for me just now, you'd be dead at the hands of those half-orcs."

"They were not a threat to me." Batman replied coldly.

"Oh really? Because all I saw was someone running for his life." Tony crossed his arms, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Batman fell silent at that remark, his eyes locked onto Stark with an intense stare.

After a brief moment of brooding silence, Batman sighed and turned away.

"Tonight is the night HYDRA and the Betans are making their deal. They're working on something in secret. My mission wasn't to take down a few low-level thugs—it was to lure them to the meeting site."

"Megans and Betans are sworn enemies. The moment they see each other, they'll start fighting. If these Megans disrupt the deal, it will throw HYDRA's plans into chaos. And in that chaos, I can investigate and gather intel."

Saying this, Batman turned back to Stark, his gaze sharp with displeasure.

"So, tell me—what exactly are you doing here?"

"Uh…"

Tony Stark awkwardly lowered his hands and returned the batarang to Batman.

He knew very well that Batman's words were pointing out how he had disrupted his plan. At the same time, the follow-up question was giving him a way out.

Realizing this, Tony Stark immediately adjusted, dropping the topic of what had just happened and instead following Batman's inquiry by explaining the situation in Flashpoint-1 Universe.

After hearing Tony's words, Batman fell into a deep silence. Like Lex Luthor, anyone who heard this information would find it difficult to accept all at once.

Though Batman maintained his usual calm exterior, Tony could sense that, internally, he was anything but.

"I know things in Attilan are complicated, but compared to this, that universe is an even bigger problem. We don't know when Darkseid will launch his attack, so someone has to be there to keep watch."

Tony spread his hands. "This person needs to understand Darkseid and Apokolips inside and out. They also need to be deeply familiar with Gotham and Metropolis. On top of that, they must have a sharp mind to handle any unexpected situations."

"Considering all that, we believe you're the best candidate."

"Is this Alex's idea?" Batman didn't agree or refuse outright but instead asked a question.

"This is Pietro's idea. And Luthor's. We can't rely on Alex for everything—he has even more important matters to handle," Tony replied.

"But this involves two universes… and multiversal travel. Can you guarantee that my actions won't draw the attention of certain… beings?" Batman asked, his tone carrying an implied meaning.

Hearing this, Tony immediately understood what Batman was referring to.

Ever since sitting on the Mobius Chair, Batman had clearly gained knowledge of higher-dimensional entities—things that ordinary people couldn't even begin to comprehend.

"I don't know exactly which beings you're referring to, but I don't think you need to worry. The Flashpoint-1 Universe is a doomed one by nature. No one will be watching it."

Batman stared at Tony's face for a long moment. Then, after a pause, he finally gave a small nod.

"Alright… Who are my teammates?"
