Noticing Valeria's gaze and hearing his little sister's words, Franklin couldn't help but freeze for a moment. He pointed at himself in disbelief.
"Me?"
"Yes." Valeria blinked and smiled. "I've already run diagnostics on you. Your current energy levels have reached an absolute cosmic scale, even comparable to the Celestials.
Given this, using the energy within your body to power the magical observation device is the perfect choice. Plus, it won't cause you any harm. After all, you're already connected to the entire Wasteland."
Valeria wasn't wrong. Ever since he had directly faced the Genesis Explosion, whether willingly or not, Franklin had absorbed an immense amount of magical energy.
This energy not only transformed his body but also elevated him beyond mortality, reaching an unimaginable level. While much of this was due to his own innate talent, achieving such a feat without the magical energy would have been impossible.
At this moment, Franklin had completely evolved into a new form of life. His bond with the Wasteland Universe was so deep that he had reached a unique state of "eternity."
As long as the Wasteland Universe remained intact, Franklin would never truly die. He could resurrect himself in any corner of the cosmos.
Even if his existence were erased, he could still reemerge through history, reviving himself from people's memories. This ability was far beyond what ordinary beings could even dream of.
Of course, Franklin wasn't aware of any of this. To him, he was still just a kid. So upon hearing Valeria's words, he instinctively took two steps back.
"You want to experiment on me again!?"
Franklin's reaction created an awkward silence among everyone present. Their expressions turned strange.
The word again was particularly well-used.
Alex raised an eyebrow, glancing between Franklin and Valeria.
Well, well. So that's the kind of siblings they were.
It seemed this wasn't the first or even the second time. Valeria had clearly been using her dear brother as her personal test subject for a while now.
Thinking about it, it made sense. Franklin was practically a cosmic cornerstone, possessing unimaginable potential. Even before gaining his current power, he could traverse spatial fragments using his own abilities alone.
For ordinary supernatural beings, spatial turbulence was something to be feared. In ancient times, even powerful black sorcerers dared not enter such chaotic zones lightly.
Yet Franklin, using only his awakening abilities, had effortlessly piloted the Hogwarts Express through the turbulence. That alone spoke volumes about his capabilities.
Given this, how could his younger sister—who had knowledge far beyond this era—possibly pass up such a prime test subject?
It was likely that back in the Wasteland, Valeria had already done some… questionable experiments on Franklin. Otherwise, he wouldn't be reacting this strongly now.
At this thought, Alex's expression toward Valeria grew even more peculiar. But Valeria acted as if she didn't notice the stares. She simply shrugged and said, "I'm doing this for everyone's benefit."
"Are you sure? Last time, you nearly sent me into a black hole with Dad's force bomb just to test my abilities!" Franklin protested.
The moment he said this, Susan's face changed instantly. She turned sharply to look at her husband.
Reed Richards immediately shook his head quickly, signaling that he had nothing to do with that incident.
"That was an accident. Besides, you were fine, weren't you? Even if something had happened, I had a way to enter the black hole and get you back. You have nothing to worry about," Valeria said with a mischievous grin.
But when Franklin saw that smile, he felt a chill run down his spine.
Most people saw Valeria as a well-mannered, intelligent, and considerate child. But only Franklin, as her brother, knew how insane she could be behind the scenes.
"You're not going to make me do something dangerous again, are you?" Franklin took another two steps back.
"Of course not. Dad and Mom are watching. And Mr. Alex is here too. What are you so afraid of? Besides, you're the best candidate for this job."
Valeria stepped up to the control panel and tapped a few buttons. Soon, the large central screen displayed two nearly identical energy waveforms.
Pointing at the screen, she explained, "Look, the one on top is the energy wavelength of the Genesis Aftershock, and the one below is the current wavelength inside Franklin's body. After absorbing a massive amount of magical energy, his body has undergone a fundamental transformation."
Everyone gathered around the screen, listening intently as Valeria continued.
"While it's still technically similar to cosmic energy, its energy source has been entirely replaced by magical energy. And this isn't just any magical energy—it's an extremely complex force left behind by the Genesis Aftershock.
Do you have any idea how much energy Peregrine Child devoured from magical dimensions? Do you know how unique each magical dimension's energy is?
Those energies represent the fundamental rules and unique compositions of various universes. But now, they've all been broken down into pure energy. A portion of that energy has merged into your body. Do you know what that means?"
Without waiting for a response, Valeria answered her own question.
"It means that the energy inside you is now eerily similar to the Genesis Aftershock's energy. And that is our best chance to locate those activated magical constructs."
At first, Alex felt lost listening to Valeria's rapid explanation. But as she went on, he started to catch up with her train of thought.
After a moment of contemplation, Alex hesitantly said,"So… you're saying that most of the energy inside Franklin now matches the Genesis Aftershock's energy. If we use Franklin as a radar, we can track down the activated magical constructs?"
"Exactly!"
Valeria snapped her fingers.
"You want to turn me into a radar!?" Franklin's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Don't make it sound so bad. You're just supplying energy to the device. The machine will use your energy to pinpoint the anchor points where the Genesis Aftershock has caused anomalies," Valeria replied nonchalantly.
"So I am your guinea pig again," Franklin muttered, pouting. He turned to his father for help.
Seeing his son's pleading look, Reed Richards stepped forward. "Valeria, this is too dangerous."
Hearing this, Valeria immediately pouted, while Franklin broke into a relieved smile.
Then Reed's next words came.
"…So I'll do it with you."
"…"
Franklin's smile froze on his face, and his whole body turned to stone in an instant.
On the other side, Alex approached Susan. "Let Franklin and Valeria stay here for now. They are already an indispensable part of the Overseers."
Susan let out a long sigh. She had always been aware of her children's talents.
From the moment the Overseers were established, from the day she and her husband first arrived at the House of Mysteries, Alex had suggested that Franklin and Valeria should join the organization.
At that time, however, Susan had wanted her children to have a perfect childhood, so she refused Alex's proposal.
Since then, Susan and her children had been in a state of "separation between two worlds." Though she could observe their every move within the House of Mysteries at any time, she could no longer always be by their side.
Sometimes, Susan wondered—if she had agreed to Alex's proposal back then, would things have turned out differently? Would they have been able to stay together as a family all the time?
Now, hearing Alex's words, Susan sighed once more before smiling again.
She knew—the times had changed.
And not just in the context of the Wasteland, but also for her own children.
Looking at the current situation, whether it was Franklin or Valeria, the power they possessed and the knowledge they had mastered had already surpassed the limits of this era. The Wasteland was no longer a place for them.
"You anticipated this outcome long ago, didn't you?" Susan asked in a low voice.
"What do you mean?" Alex replied with a question.
Seeing that Alex wasn't pretending to be clueless, Susan spoke seriously. "From arranging for Logan and Constantine to go back in time and save us, to later exiling Galactus to another universe—was all of this part of your plan?
And if so, then did you also foresee Franklin replacing Galactus and becoming one of the supreme beings of the Wasteland Universe?"
Though it was phrased as a question, Susan's tone made it sound like a statement.
Hearing this, Alex couldn't help but shake his head.
"Susan, I'm far from being as omnipotent as you think. It's true that I knew Franklin had an incredibly high potential ceiling, but if you think I planned all of this from back then, you're giving me too much credit."
"Is that so?"
Susan, however, wasn't convinced in the slightest.
"Stark was sent to another universe. Was that also part of your calculations?"
"No, that was Pietro and Luthor's plan," Alex replied.
"I heard they also sent Batman and his three Robins there. Aren't you worried this could trigger some unpredictable dangers?" Susan asked again.
"That's their mission. I just need to trust them. Susan, this world is too vast—I can't oversee everything. But what I can do is trust them, one hundred percent."
"What if some unknown existence does intervene?" Susan's tone grew heavy.
At this, Alex simply shifted his gaze calmly.
"Then let them try."
