Xavier's anger was almost palpable as he kept following the direction of the tracker on his device. It looked like the little bastard hadn't yet left where he was and that was good because he was going to fucking kill that boy if he laid his dirty hands on what was his. He was speeding beyond the speed limit but he didn't care. Speeding tickets be damned; he wasn't stopping until he was sure Gia was okay.
It didn't take long for him to see Jeremy's car just ahead and he clenched his fists against the steering wheel. Xavier wasn't planning on ramming his car through his because he knew Gia was in there and the last thing he wanted to do was to hurt her but he knew that self absorbed prick wouldn't risk losing his life and to prove he was right Jeremy stopped the car before it got to him. Coward. He had intersected them and there wasn't any way for the prick to drive away to. He clenched and unclenched his teeth, wondering what was going on in Gianna's mind. He didn't want this to upset her, not in the slightest bit and he was going to hate for her to think he had actually wanted to crash into the car she was in on purpose. He didn't want Gia to see him like this so he tried to remain as calm as possible.
That girl was turning him into someone he didn't recognize and yet he wasn't running away; didn't even want to. He stepped out of the car and came to stand in front of his half brother's car, challenging him to step down. Gianna couldn't believe her eyes. It didn't look like she was hallucinating because she had heard Jeremy call his brother. She stepped out of the car and continued to stare at the man right across from her. The last couple of days had been a rollercoaster. There were days she regretted going to his office that day to call off the wedding but some days she felt like she did the right thing because she wasn't about to put a man before her dreams. She had had very conflicting emotions since the day she had spoken to him but now all that turmoil in her heart seemed to have calm down. With his presence? She had no idea.
"You almost killed us Xavier. What is wrong with you," Jeremy yelled as he got out of the car, slamming the door in irritation as he continued to glare at his brother. Xavier slightly tilted his head in nonchalance, looking at the man who was fuming in amusement. He was all bark and no bite but it was nice to see him pretend as if he could intimidate him. "The key word is almost? I could have sworn you didn't know the meaning of the word since you know, you look very much alive to me," Xavier mocked, a smirk making it's way to his lips. Jeremy clenched his fists, the jabs made by his brother making his anger more palpable.
"Forgive my brother for his recklessness miss Michaels. It's a running joke between us too and I'm sorry he involved you in this," Jeremy deliberately tuned his attention to Gianna, making sure to convey the underlying meaning behind his words as he painted Xavier to be the bad guy. He internally smirked knowing very well that Xavier may have already lost the battle before it even began. If the girl thought his brother was a psycho who only cared about pleasing his own ego it wouldn't be long before she accepted to marry him. Gianna didn't know what all this ruckus was about and how she had gotten caught in it but she knew Xavier hadn't planned to kill them in an accident. If anything it looked like he had only meant to stop them. Why? She didn't know. Maybe she was also making excuses for him with regards his actions no matter his reasons for doing it.
Even if it was a running joke between the brothers, it still didn't make it alright to almost kill his own brother. She turned to look at the man who didn't look like he had taken his eyes off of her for even a second and she sighed. Steeling her spine she killed any emotion that could cloud her judgement from the next words she was about to utter. "Mr. Castillo, you may have your reasons for the stunt you just pulled but it also involved lives. Regardless of whatever is between you and your brother it didn't warrant the near death experience you put us through. The last thing I also want is to be caught up in whatever is going on between you too. I don't want any part of it," Gianna said in a calm tone, expressing her thoughts and standing on business at the same time. In both times that she had spoken to him,
Xavier had realized that she spoke with more matureness than most people he knew and for a girl who was only nineteen she made sure to not let people trample on her. He likes that about her. Assertive and bold. "I'm sorry if I startled you miss Michaels. Just like you said I shouldn't involve you in something you're not a part of and I'm very sorry that," Xavier apologized sincerely, making Jeremy's jaw drop on the floor in astonishment. It was either he was hallucinating or his half brother had really apologized to someone. Xavier never admitted defeat nor apologized to anyone because he was never wrong and although today what he did wasn't morally acceptable he could have easily evaded the whole thing by throwing some of his sarcastic remarks.
Who would have thought. Gianna nodded in acceptance of his apology, not wanting to drag it any further. "I was hoping I could speak with you miss Michaels," Xavier said, telling why he was there in the first place. "I'm sorry brother but she and I already have an appointment," Jeremy stepped in front of Gia, his body covering her from seeing Xavier. She rolled her eyes and sidestepped the man. "I only want to talk to your grandfather. We can do that after I've spoken to him," she said and saw Xavier raise his eyebrows in question. "You both don't have to worry about taking me there, my bodyguard is already bringing the car," she added just to make them aware she wasn't getting in a car with either of them. They both were insufferable anyways. It took less than two minutes for the bodyguard to get there and Gia crossed her arms as she stared daggers into the buff man.
"The next time you disappear on me like that you're going to disappear for good," it wasn't a threat from Gia's side although someone would think otherwise. She just had to make sure the man knew what his job description was and stuck to that. If Jeremy had been a bad guy she could have easily been kidnapped and the person employed to protect her would have been nowhere to be found. Xavier was very much entertained by what was happening in front of him. Compared to the man who stood tall and buff, Gia looked so small in his presence and yet she commanded so much authority. If he hadn't already been smitten, he was now.
