Due to historical issues of the past, the Lin, as Divine Elders of the Light God's faith, monopolized all authority of the Light God's Court for a millennium. Every Emperor of the Lin Dynasty was the High Priest of the Court and held the supreme title of Divine Firstborn. Essentially, each Lin Emperor was a unified holder of both secular and divine powers.
It wasn't until Lin Seventy-Seven lost the Crown of Light that the Lin clan began to gradually lose their control over the Light God's Court. Even so, because of the title of Divine Firstborn, they continued to interfere in the Court's authority, creating irreconcilable tensions between the Lin family and the Court.
This was a vestige of past historical issues. This intrinsic conflict of authority prevented the Lin royal family and the Light God's Court from ever truly coming together.
Yet, they were, in reality, like grasshoppers tied to the same rope.
