'He refuses my invitation for this?!'
Max's face soured at the thought of his failed attempts to set up Hugo with Ginnie. Even when he bribed him with a luxurious buffet, Hugo just kept declining.
The reasons?
"I'm busy."
"Can't make it."
"Next time."
Those were the repeated answers Max had gotten from Hugo over the past few weeks. Max had thought Hugo was genuinely busy, even though the man didn't seem like the type. Who would have thought Hugo was busy with something else?
'Just how dense is this guy?' Max clenched his teeth as he looked away from the oblivious Hugo. 'Damn, I hate him!'
As the silence stretched between them, Max couldn't help but lift his eyes toward Ginnie's back. His bitterness grew, but his expression softened.
'I failed to set them up again, and we'll just have to bump into him with Kiara,' he hissed in his mind, tempted to flip the world the middle finger.
To him, this world was just testing them all.
