Chapter 1 - Unexpected

The walls crumbled slowly but they still had to leave. They would eventually fall and the war would be over and won but that could not happen. Hela would never give up even if she was half dead, her henchmen and maidens would still be by her side until they too were destroyed.

"My Queen, we have to leave." This was the cry of one of Hela's maidens. The maidens of Valhalla, with sworn loyalty to their dominant and powerful queen.

"We shall leave but I will have the last say in this war"

Hela moved briskly out of her personal quarters with her maidens; nasty beings, but they had sworn allegiance to her when they ceased to exist.

"Don't forget my baby!" shouted the Queen at the queue of Valhallian maidens which trooped behind her.

Her child, not one of her creations or pets or ornaments but a child she conceived. By ancient sorcery and enchantment, she transferred the growing child into a park-like orb. Its glow on its cushioned pedestal at the far left corner of her quarters was magnificent.

Hela's first and only child, the fruit of forbidden passion. The child in the pearl orb was very close to birth but it still remained in the orb, it would die eventually. That time for redemption had long gone out the window.

The magic of holding bodies was fragile. If the child was not transferred to its mother a fortnight before delivery, it would die. No one understood why she still kept it when it was three hours from birth. It would die anyway.

"My Queen, your child cannot be taken with us. It will be destroyed if it is moved at the verge of its fading magic.

She knew her maiden was right but she couldn't leave her child. She walked quickly back into the room and put her hand over the orb. In that instant, she recited the incarnation backwards to reverse the enchantment of the orb and transfer the child back to its rightful abode.

All signs said the child would not survive but she still felt like she had to make an effort even if the child may die.

She sighed and gave out a moan of pain. She had never felt this way before. Her belly protrude slowly, the baby was gradually making a home of her body.

Hella moved quickly as she could with the help of her maidens through a secret passageway. The long dark archway opened up into a wide lavish green field. Then it happened. It felt like a stab right in her gut and the unmistakable feeling of a slightly warm liquid making it's way down her inner thighs.

The baby was coming.
