Chapter 25 - EVERETT

I hugged him back tightly.

"Do you have any plans today?" I asked, leaning into him a little.

"A few things to be done," he said and kissed my forehead, then my nose, then finally my lips.

We kissed. This time, he initiated it—just like I imagined he would.

He kissed me gently, one hand on my waist holding me tight, the other on my chin. I coiled my hands around his neck, pulling him closer.

A sweet, sexy kiss.

"Come, let's eat breakfast," I said.

We sat at the dining table, talking about random things while we finished breakfast.

After that, I sat on the couch, turned on the TV, and started looking for movies. After a lot of consideration and scrolling, I finally settled on Annabelle. Thought a horror movie would be better than anything else.

Just when I started playing it, Edwin came and sat beside me with his laptop.

"You said you had work to do," I asked.

"I am doing it," he said, pointing at the screen.

"Wouldn't it be a disturbance?" I asked, pointing to the movie.

"No, you can watch it," he said, continuing to type.

"Okay," I said, turning my focus to the TV.

After a while, I turned to look at Edwin—only to find him glaring at the laptop.

If the laptop ever heats up, it won't be from overworking, but from Edwin staring holes through it.

I paused the movie.

"What happened, Edwin?" I asked.

"Nothing. You can continue watching," he said, still glaring at the screen.

I snatched the laptop from his lap. He groaned in frustration.

"Edwin! I asked you. What the hell happened for you to glare at it like that?"

"I said NOTHING happened!" he snapped, clearly irritated.

"Do you think if you told me, I wouldn't be able to help?" I asked sarcastically.

"Yes. Even my 'know-it-all friends' couldn't figure it out," he replied.

"So you're doubting me now? My sarcasm and my skills?" I raised an eyebrow.

"No! It's not like that," he said guiltily.

"Okay. Will you make a bet with me then?"

"A bet?" he asked.

"Yes, a bet. If I solve your problem, you owe me. If I can't, I'll do whatever you ask. Deal?"

"Fine," he said, accepting the challenge.

"I need data from Compania Leophodu," he said.

"That's it?" I asked, surprised.

"'That's it'?! Do you know how many days I've been searching for it?" he groaned.

"Hmph. At last. Alright, fine, my little child. I'll fix it. Don't cry. Just wait. I'll get your details," I said with a smirk.

I got to work, typing furiously. Suddenly, I noticed Edwin staring at me, wide-eyed, not even blinking.

"SHIT!"This company is unbelievable" I yelled.

"I'm shocked you didn't catch the loopholes," he said.

"I didn't catch them?" I said proudly. "Who said I didn't catch them?" I said unbelievable because of how many loopholes there are. We can make a solid case out of this," I smirked, pointing at the screen.

"WOAH! I didn't know there were that many," he said.

"I didn't even know a company like this existed."

"What would you do if there was a company like this?" he asked.

"I'd buy it," I said, casually. "Just like I bought KLI Company."

"You'll buy a company that has two full loopholes?"

"Even KLI had loopholes—just not this many. I bought it and cleared them," I said, grinning.

"WOAH. You—don't you dare," he said, laughing.

Before he could ask what I wanted in return for solving his issue, the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it," I said.

But he insisted he'd come along.

I opened the door…

"MOM!! DAD!!" I gasped.
