By June, the situation in Chang Tang had significantly improved.
The Chang Tang military, having landed in Kyushu and Shikoku, swept away the remnants of the Puppet Bones on the two major islands with unstoppable force. They were in no rush and instead established defenses on Shikoku Island while setting up a bridgehead at the westernmost end of Honshu Island.
With the aid of new large-caliber naval guns, new army artillery, and modern ground-attack equipment from the Heavenly Masters, the Puppet Bones on Honshu Island could only hurl themselves to death at the periphery of the bridgehead.
The Chang Tang Army was determined to deplete the living forces of the Puppet Bones at the bridgehead. For once, the navy and army shared the same view — with the support of ground-based aviation and the Heavenly Masters, the navy could confidently provide bombardment support near the bridgehead with large-caliber naval guns without worrying about unexpected aerial attacks from the Puppet Bones.
