Chapter 12 - Reccomendation Letter! (1)

- Don't you feel tired?

- What's the point in even trying?

- Why...?

- Just give up again.

-I'm you... but you're not me.

What?

In a black space, a voice kept projecting itself.

.

.

.

The sun shone strongly on my face, and the beams of heat warmed my body through my room's window.

In front of me again was a blue display, preventing me from seeing my room's deteriorated roof.

[Quest]

- Get a recommendation letter to Convallaria Academy under the name Dorian Andras

----

A convenient quest came up the moment I woke up.

How do I get a recommendation letter?

----

[Penalty For Failing This Quest!]:

- Lifetime Imprisonment of the user; Dorian Andras.

[Rewards For Clearing This Quest!]:

- +100 VP! (Villain Points)

----

I read the text half-dazed, as sleeping in this bed wasn't comfortable.

What's with the immediate execution or lifetime imprisonment of me? Also, the reward this time was pretty bad.

100 Villain Points? Last time I was rewarded 1000 Soul Points so that doesn't seem fair.

Anyways, how was I supposed to clear this quest?

"Who is the only person that could write a recommendation letter..." The only person in the Andras family...

"Oh-" It was self-explanatory-

Donte Andras, the family's leader and the current duke was the only one.

Am I supposed to talk to that man again after I just lied to his face yesterday!?

I would be killed by a heart attack if I saw him after what had just happened, I barely escaped the office in one piece.

I knew I haven't been caught by Donte yet as neither Grandus nor Dargion could be questioned by Donte, but who knows when they come back?

I'll be immediately exposed, so I have to somehow get that recommendation letter quickly.

A way to convince Donte...

Today I have to go to his office again.

Should I go to him and act all chummy with him, do I practically suck up to his every action?

Wait. This idea of mine just might work out fine without the use of [Faker!]. I got out of my bed and put back on my loafers.

I seriously need to shower or something when I can because staying in this filthy room has made me feel disgusting.

.

.

.

I was back in the mansion's hallways. This time with a plan to find Donte's office room.

The sun outside the windows was shining brighter than ever, yet the conditions inside the mansion were cool and warm.

I began to wander around the mansion again to find the huge-sized double doors again.

.

.

.

Tap Tap Tap

My fit sluggishly hit the carpet floors, its noise was soft yet loud as I was dragging my body around.

I stopped in front of a double door again. I was finally in front of Donte's office again.

"Phew~..." I took a deep breath in and out. Another day to lie to Donte, it couldn't be that hard.

I glanced to my left and saw the same blue display again.

[Quest]

- Get a recommendation letter to Convallaria Academy under the name Dorian Andras

----

The quest looked way too simple than it could ever be. I was already starting to sweat again, my nerves kept coming back. I was going to do this.

Why?

Questions of the quest kept reappearing in my head.

Why do I just do as this says?

I mean the penalty is what makes me not want to fail, but at the same time, no surmountable prize is rewarded to me to keep on lying.

It's not that I hate it, but I'm just questioning why.

Well, whatever, that wasn't the problem on hand. What was difficult was to see if Donte would just write the recommendation letter willingly.

"Probably not..." I mean what kind of Father would write an acceptance letter to one of the best academies in [Give Up? Never!]. No one would.

I placed my hand on the doorknob of the left double door, which felt rather chilly. I opened it and found Donte seated in the same black chair as if he hadn't left the office since yesterday.

A man known throughout the continent was holed up in his office. 'The Greatest Soul Weapon User', or so they say.

Donte's face met mine, and his expression became unpleasant for some reason.

"What brings you here?" He emphasized the 'you' part.

Joseph his butler, was nowhere found near him. It was just me and Donte again.

...

"Convallaria Academy is starting soon right?" My face put on another half grin, again, I could feel my sweat start to drench my clothes.

Donte just looked at me again, he probably wasn't going to buy into what I said.

"And~ I decided to be a really~... good younger brother!" My cheerful act didn't rub off on Donte. He still looked at me like a complete cockroach.

"What are you getting at."

"So... Since Convallaria Academy is starting soon, shouldn't you start to write a letter for Dargion?"

Only one recommendation letter from a family's generation can be accepted into the academy, and for all I knew, the original letter was also supposed to go to Dargion.

At this point, I was practically sweating so hard my balls could slip off, if he didn't say something I would probably have to leave.

"You're right... It's almost the new year, the academy is going to start in about a month..." He looked at the pamphlet next to his laptop, the current date today was exactly one month before the academy started.

That would mean right now I'm 15 years old and eligible to get into the academy too. But my second brother is too, 15 years old.

Dargion is the polar opposite of me; he has white hair, attractive features, and a straightforward disposition.

He's intelligent enough to go on a mission before going to the academy.

"As a good younger brother should, they should personally deliver the recommendation letter to them since it's so valuable."

But couldn't Joseph, Donte's most trustful personal just do that too?

I didn't think about that, so my heart began beating more rapidly, I became more fidgeting standing in front of my father.

.

.

.

"Master, forgive my sincere apologies, but my family back in Tremat are in some need of my assistance." Joseph bowed in front of Donte's desk. "May I request a leave of absence for a while?"

"That okay Joseph... Go forth and come back to serve me." He got up from his chair and put his hand on his shoulder.

Joseph's face lit up in happiness, his eyes started to turn watery.

"Thank you very much! Master!" This time, Joseph moved his torso forward to form a 90-degree bow.

Joseph left the office in a hurry.

.

.

.

The memory started to blur into reality. This was [Faker!]'s ability.

Donte was about to talk again, his lips twitched, but I couldn't afford to hear what he had to say yet.

"-And since Joseph is gone for the time being, the most trustful person- second to none is right here." I pointed at myself and put on another awkward smile.

Was that act good enough?

Donte's face looked surprised, he wouldn't have suspected me to know that Joseph was most likely gone.

"Dargion is currently out right now, I know exactly the fortress he's stationed in right now... Arlcliff Castle." I tried to sound as confident as I could.

Arlcliff Castle resides on the edge of the Andras Family's province, it would only take a day by wagon to get there.

"Hmmm..." It looked as if he was pondering whether to let me be the 'messenger' for Dargion or not.

"I could make it by wagon in no time, unlike those lazy servants who sit around and clean the house all day."

"...I guess you're right. I'll write the recommendation letter to Dargion so you can deliver it." This man completely eat the bullshit I fed him...

I was going to be the 'messenger' for the recommendation letter.

Donte took out a scroll from his drawer and began writing in pen on the letter, I realized something.

Looking back at the same blue window, the text looked no different than before;

----

----

He wasn't going to write it under my name!

It's going to be under Dargion Andras' name!
