Chao Wei finally got up and faced the hunters, the woman dropped him in front of. There were multiple, not just three or four, but in the dozens, carrying a trademark weapon. The three hunters he fought with against those bandits each swapped between a bow and a long sword, but he never saw them use their skill tree, and if they did, he didn't notice.
"Whose kid is this?" One Hunter asked, slightly disdained that a 10-year-old runt wore the same garb as them and was in their presence, his face radiating pure disgust.
"Relax. He's the kid who killed two bandits with a pair of broken arrows and helped defend the village. You'd be smart to be kind to him." One of the long sword hunters said.
"Bah! he got lucky." The larger man argued.
"So much for expecting a gentle giant..." Nakama thought.
Chao Wei spoke for the first time, "He's right. It's better to be nice to your allies."
The hunters stopped arguing, and the larger one stepped toward Chao Wei. "Or what, kid?" The hunter released pressure using Qi.
Chao felt the pressure but looked the man in the eye, and the large hunter felt...something, not exactly killing intent, but something more like defiance and the power to back up his next words. "Or a rock may 'accidentally' find its way into both of your eyes," Chao spoke casually, glaring at the large hunter, even if he felt like he could barely move under the pressure of the large hunter.
From that point on, every hunter looked at Chao Wei, then the larger hunter, and one started laughing. "Damn! The kid's got grit, I'll tell you that!"
"Threatened...by a child..." The large hunter was about to draw the large sword from his waist before an older, wiser hunter put his palm over the sword's pommel, stopping the draw.
"You started this. The kid finished it. It's wise not to fight now, otherwise you'll sow discord among the hunters of the same village you live in. Is that what you want?"
"That's for being reckless, child." The older hunter said. "You shouldn't make enemies so recklessly."
Chao Wei grimaced but decided to change the topic. "My name is Chao Wei. What's yours?"
"Respectful, I see... My name is Jang-Soo."
Chao nods. "Jang-Soo, I'll remember that." Chao then frowns again. "But I must ask... why bring me to hunt? I'm a liability. I don't have a weapon."
Jang-Soo nodded. "That arm of yours will be useful to us. Our Hunters each have a unique skill tree." The older hunter said, Chao Wei got a better look at him, and remembered his smile lines, his old yet sharp eyes, and most recognizable: His Salt and Pepper Facial hair.
"Since everyone took a peek at your skill tree, I see it fair that you learn everyone else's. I will warn you. Some are...most unusual."
Chao nodded, and Nakama Hiroshi listened, doing his best to memorize the incoming information.
The old hunter began listing off the names of the nearby Hunters, along with their most defining features and skill trees: "Red hair, Sae-Rong Baek, Butchering. Guri-Ji, the one wearing multiple pouches around one leg. Leg Boost. Wi-Yeon, Long Black Hair, Swordsmanship. Dae-Ho, the one wearing a shield, Defense Boost. Those three in a group are Nok-Ha, Hae-Sal, and Bam-Soon: Cooking, Alchemy Enhancement, and Beast Taming. That should be everyone near us."
"And the guy with the big sword?"
"Him...The one you threatened...Geuk-Jin, Hexing Enhancement." The old man said, his expression one of mourning.
Chao was about to speak, but then he remembered that it was only the nearby hunters, meaning there were possibly more hunters around. Chao then pat himself down where his pockets should be, realizing he does not have any pockets.
"Umm...Sir, I have no weapons. If I'm going to hunt, I'd require at least one."
"You're right, child. You would need one. What's your talent?" The older man.
"Pitching Technique. I can throw things really hard and really well."
The old hunter looked at him, he wasn't shocked, but wasn't amused either. He looked...like he was in extreme thought. "Interesting Kid...Guess you'll be stuck with rocks you pick up off the ground... after all, your talent makes throwing random objects lethal, boy...
Chao was stuck and as the hunt began, he'd pick up random rocks; his small body struggled to keep up with the grown hunters, he was lagging, and tried to use his Qi for the first time, his entire body emitted a low level light, before his qi formed a vortex around his foot then he overshot his step and completely flew toward the front of the formation.
"WOAAAHHH!!" Chao exclaimed, still not able to use his qi properly, but able to use it enough to increase his movement for a few seconds.
"Kid! Careful!" One female hunter with face paint yelled to Chao as he suddenly raced to the middle of the hunting party,
Soon they came to a canyon. Chao Wei had a stone in his hand, roughly the size of his palm, gripping it in his hand, squeezing, palming the rock as his spiral core throttled with unspoken power. They slowed down, Chao could hear their breathing, they didnt seem tired in the least, neither did he. Giant wolves were seen, and the first two shot arrows; the shots landed, but had little effect on the wolves.
"Their hides are as hard as Iron..." One Hunter said, taking out her sword, Chao palmed his rock and was brought back to the baseball stadium he played before reincarnating in the world of Murim, a look of determination, just like with the mountain bandits, as the wolves attacked the entire hunting party, three hunters held off one wolf and two were holding off the other. he noticed the two and took a further position. The wolves snarled and attempted to bite the hunting party, Chao kept palming the stone in his hand, his only weapon, and suddenly, his mind came back to the current moment, back on the mound of courage once again, he called out.
"They're Large as hell too. one of these bad boys keeps the village full for a couple of months."
"CURVEBALL!!!"
His eyes had that feral look to them, the kind that didnt show bloodlust, but more of a predator hunting prey, he raised one leg, intuitively his qi surged through his right arm, his arm curved before throwing the ball, from anyone else's point of view, anyone would assume he threw a sloppy, telegraphed fastball, but thats not the case, his fingers left the rock in a different way from his fastball, His qi exploded through his finger, the rock spun, at first going straight. A Wolf had attempted to bite one of the hunters in half before the stone swerved; he had imagined the wolf's head was the mit he aimed at, before a whine was heard. The rock had found its mark, hitting the wolf in the head, making it back off.
"GO!" Chao yelled at the Hunters, amazed by his ballsy move.
