These terraces had springs, where fortresses could be built, a few terraced fields grown, along with nearby mountain camps, accommodating ten to twenty thousand people. At the edge of the terraces, stone walls could be erected leveraging the mountain terrain, sealing the passageways, forming complete defenses.
