Shen Xingchen's eyes were fixed intently on Shen Li, as if her gaze was glued to him.
Shen Li fed her another dumpling, then casually asked, "Why do you keep staring at me?"
If she continued to stare at him like this, he'd start feeling embarrassed.
Shen Xingchen bit into the dumpling Shen Li offered at her lips, then looked into his eyes and said, "Uncle, I turned down the blind date Aunt had arranged for me."
As soon as Shen Xingchen spoke, Shen Li's hand paused mid-action while feeding her. He simply looked at her without saying anything.
Their eyes met. Shen Xingchen, serious as ever, continued, "My studies and work have been too hectic. I just don't have the time or energy for that sort of thing." Then, her brows furrowed slightly. "Besides, I don't actually want to go on a blind date. I was just joking with you last time."
If not for the alcohol she had tonight, if not for the late-night quiet, Shen Xingchen would never have said such things to Shen Li.
