Madam Shen shook her head. "No, I'll wait for Xingchen to come back."
Shen Li: "I'll wait for her. I'll go upstairs after she's back."
Exhausted to the point of not being able to keep her eyes open, Madam Shen stood up yawning and said, "Alright, that works. You can wait for Xingchen." Then she added, "There's food on the table. When Xingchen comes back, you can put it in the microwave to heat it up for her."
"Okay."
After Shen Li nodded in agreement, Madam Shen went upstairs to rest.
As soon as Madam Shen left, Shen Li brought his laptop downstairs and started working while waiting for Shen Xingchen to return.
Time ticked away, minute by minute. When the clock hit 11:30, Shen Xingchen still hadn't come back, and Shen Li began to worry.
She called Shen Xingchen, but the automated response informed her that Xingchen was busy and would call back shortly.
Shen Li knew the surgery hadn't finished yet, and Xingchen was still occupied.
