"I hope he likes it, you're lucky being the first to taste my cooking."
Placing it on a tray, with his back he pushed the door open. This time, Jidenna wasn't as shocked to see Mo Renze sitting on his bed, his eyes staring at the window, blank and vacant, not blinking.
'A lot must be on his mind,' Jidenna immediately made up a reason. He dragged a stool with his foot, as his hands were occupied. Placing the tray down, he collapsed onto his bed that was opposite Mo Renze's.
"Hey, Renze!" He called out to him, but Mo Renze remained in a daze until Jidenna snapped his fingers the second time.
"Huh?" In an odd way, like a marionette whose strings were pulled, Mo Renze snapped back to reality. He took off his glasses, cleaned them, and put them back on.
"You were calling me, Jidenna?" he asked.
Without saying a word, Jidenna nudged a bowl towards him. "Today the food I made was too much for me to finish. Why don't you help me?"
