Chapter 130 - Volume 2 Chapter 9: The Axe Has Returned

Though Rhine Lab only had a temporary base in Melun City, the facility included a fairly large training ground. Once it was decided, Garde could help train Razer whenever she had time.

This wasn't a spur-of-the-moment decision; Garde had resolved from the beginning to assist Razer.

Unlike Darina, who was a young lady from a small noble family, Razer's life was much tougher. Achieving her dreams would require an extraordinary amount of effort.

Life's journey is long, and while Garde couldn't watch over Razer forever, he could accompany her through this most challenging stretch.

The young Vouivre girl didn't yet understand how valuable the guidance of a skilled warrior like Garde—a fighter as skilled as a god—truly was.

At the moment, she was accompanying Garde on a trip to a clothing store.

The young female tailor in charge of taking measurements couldn't help but stare at Garde's tall and well-built figure, her mouth nearly watering.

She wanted to ask for Garde's contact information, but seeing the group of gorgeous women trailing behind him, she sighed in resignation.

"No wonder he needs three girlfriends—ordinary people definitely couldn't handle someone like that."

As she thought back to the measurements she took for Garde's waist and the way his pants bulged, the tailor muttered under her breath.

There were plenty of large Vouivre men in Melun City. While someone as massive as Garde was rare, there were still a few around two meters tall.

By altering clothing meant for those big men to make it wider, Garde could probably wear it—though it would undoubtedly be tight and unsuitable for any strenuous activity.

Since Muelsyse was willing to pay extra, the tailor dropped all her other work to focus on making adjustments for Garde.

About an hour later, a brand-new suit was ready.

In the meantime, the group had also visited a supermarket.

"Muelsyse, do you really want me to wear this?"

Garde frowned as he looked at the black suit. He was certain that if he so much as flexed too hard, the outfit would be ruined.

"Relax, you're not fighting anyone today. Just wear it for the afternoon. If it doesn't work out, we'll come back tomorrow to order a proper custom suit."

Hearing Muelsyse's reassurance, Garde reluctantly entered the changing room. However, his large frame barely fit inside.

"Fine, we'll wait outside," the others said, stepping out to let Garde change in peace. They weren't worried about him damaging anything inside.

But just as Garde began changing, a commotion erupted in the distance.

"What's going on over there?"

Darina curiously glanced in the direction of the noise. She wanted to investigate, but Razer stopped her.

"Don't get involved in random situations."

"This is the city—nothing bad will happen here," Darina protested.

"Even in the city, it's not safe."

Razer knew that Melun City wasn't a place with great public security. Conflicts often occurred between the local Vouivre families and external security contractors, as well as among the Vouivre families themselves.

As the eldest daughter of a Vouivre family, Darina had no business getting involved in disputes between other families and contractors.

"Looking from a distance is fine, though," Muelsyse said, snapping her fingers.

In a small pool several hundred meters away, a figure that bore a strong resemblance to Muelsyse emerged.

The figure climbed out of the pool and, like a stream of water, began flowing toward the source of the commotion.

Muelsyse observed that the conflict involved a group of scavengers and a foreign security contractor.

When she saw the contractor's uniform and emblem, Muelsyse inwardly cursed.

"Of all people, it's someone from Beach Umbrella."

Rhine Lab and Beach Umbrella had long been competitors due to overlapping business interests.

Beach Umbrella was already unhappy with Rhine Lab's sudden presence in Melun City and had repeatedly tried to undermine them.

But with Muelsyse overseeing things, Rhine Lab had no real issues to worry about. Beach Umbrella didn't have any major players in Melun City, and her arrival here was effectively a one-sided advantage.

Now, with Garde around, there was even less to worry about.

Though she had never seen Garde in action, the fact that Saria held him in such high regard meant his abilities were likely not far behind hers.

As a company on par with Rhine Lab, Beach Umbrella was undeniably powerful. Ordinary scavenger squads rarely stood a chance against them.

However, since they were rivals, Muelsyse had no qualms about tripping them up behind the scenes.

"Hmm?"

Suddenly, Muelsyse noticed movement from a crate on one of the scavengers' trucks. The scavengers, already subdued, watched helplessly as a group of Beach Umbrella security personnel swaggered toward them.

The guards weren't expecting to find anything valuable—they just wanted to have some fun at the scavengers' expense.

Climbing onto the truck, the guards casually rummaged through its contents and opened a crate.

"Hey, look at this—a big ol' axe!"

"Just a rusty old axe. What's so special about it?"

"It's huge, though. Could it be some kind of artifact?"

"Whoa, maybe we just hit the jackpot?"

On the black market, even a basic Originium staff could fetch at least 100,000 Sargon Dinars. If the axe in the crate was truly an artifact, it could be worth millions—or even tens of millions.

The axe was crescent-shaped, resembling a relic unearthed from ancient ruins. Yet, its pristine condition gave the impression that it had just been forged.

As one of the Beach Umbrella guards reached for the axe, a booming voice exploded in his mind.

"DON'T TOUCH ME, YOU IDIOT!"

The next moment, the guard was sent flying backward, landing headfirst with a loud thud.

Before the other guards could react, the axe shot into the air, hurtling skyward.

Watching the axe take flight, Muelsyse felt a strange sense of familiarity. She suddenly remembered—wasn't this the same axe Garde had been holding the first time they met, a month ago?

Sure enough, when Muelsyse turned her head, she saw the axe flying toward her direction—or more precisely, toward Garde, who had just stepped out of the tailor shop.

The speed of the axe's flight caused a sonic boom, giving the impression it wasn't reuniting with its master but seeking vengeance.

Yet Garde, freshly dressed in his tight black suit, simply raised a hand and caught the axe mid-flight.

After all, it was his weapon—resistance was futile.

As Garde puzzled over why the axe had come to him on its own, a familiar voice echoed in his mind.

"You accursed Adakrys! You @#&$! Do you hear me? @#&$!"

Garde: ???

Wait. Wasn't that the voice of the black dragon?
