"I owe you an apology," Carol said after a sigh.
"Apologies for what?"
"I went to Ethan and made quite a scene. I thought your presence here was because of an affair between you two."
Madisyn swallowed hard, a wave of dread washing over her. Her face paled.
"But he explained that he hired you because you needed a job, and he just wanted to help considering what his brother did to you."
Madisyn let out a sigh of relief. "Yeah, I needed a job, and he came to my rescue. I'm still trying to settle in, though."
"I'm sure you'll make it. It's going to be tough at first. This is a very competitive environment. It can be stressful and demanding, but I'm confident you'll get far."
Madisyn offered Carol a small smile of appreciation. Her words felt sincere, warming Madisyn's heart. "Thank you."
"If you need anything—tips, advice, or even if you have questions you don't feel comfortable asking Vanessa for obvious reasons—I can give you my number. You can text or call me anytime."
