Bai Xiao and He Xin's room is quite small, containing just two bamboo beds and a table, nothing else. A dim bulb, which might not even be five watts, sways in the night breeze. Once adjusted to the dim light, she notices each side of the small room has a simple wooden window panel that can be pushed out and propped open with a stick.
She opens the window, and the damp air rushes in. Compared to the previous stifling dark, the room finally feels a bit pleasant.
But it also appears simpler.
Aside from a table that is roughly similar to the other items, there's no furniture in the room. One of the table legs is broken, and it leans awkwardly in the corner.
The best things inside the room, aside from intact walls, are the two beds.
Though they creak loudly when you sit on them, at least they don't have to sleep on the ground.
The bedding is neatly arranged on the beds.
It looks well-laundered, but the patches on it are quite noticeable.
